PETA ‘Animals’ to Cause a Ruckus Outside Urban Outfitters, Inc., Stores

On Thursday, PETA supporters dressed in can’t-be-missed alpaca, sheep, cow, goose, and goat masks will urge local would-be shoppers to avoid Urban Outfitters, Inc., stores—which include Anthropologie and Free People—at three locations and demand that the company leave alpaca fleece, wool, leather, mohair, cashmere, and down on their original owners.
When: Thursday, July 29, 12 noon
Where: Anthropologie, 111 E. Chicago Ave. (near the intersection with N. Rush Street), Chicago
“Urban Outfitters, Inc., stores are graveyards for animals who were beaten up, cut up, and killed,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on Urban Outfitters’ brands to honor the company’s consumer pledge of sustainability and ethics by selling only vegan materials—which would be easy to do because they already stock them.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
