In a bid to encourage empathy for animals who are mutilated and killed in university laboratories, PETA launched Abduction, a unique virtual reality experience soon landing on college campuses across the country—many of which house laboratories where animals are imprisoned and tormented. Passersby stopped right in their tracks when they stumbled on what looked like a roadside slaughterhouse—complete with a “blood-spattered” worker carving up flesh and offering “humane meat”—but this April Fools’ Day display had a fruity twist!

As major U.S. airports seek donations of essentials for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers missing paychecks during the partial government shutdown, PETA supporters delivered suitcases packed with delicious and non-perishable vegan food and other supplies to TSA agents in airports across the U.S.

A pair of stilt-walking PETA supporters in 10-foot-tall “plant-powered” robot suits towered above a group of animal advocates as they called out the Vanity Fair Oscar Party’s animal- and planet-killing menu of In-N-Out burgers.

Kisa’s elderly guardians were unable to give her the necessary haircut she desperately needed. PETA fieldworkers provided her with a personal groom at her own pace, for no charge.

A costumed “crying lobster”—joined by PETA supporters, along with members of Project Animal Freedom—descended on Red Lobster with banners and signs. Their plea points out that lobsters feel pain and terror just as humans do and urges everyone to leave them in peace by going vegan.

A heated Board of Directors meeting over the fate of the cruel Oregon National Primate Research Center ended with a unanimous resolution to begin negotiations to end experiments on monkeys and transition the facility into a sanctuary! Over 60 PETA supporters, PCRM advocates, and compassionate Oregonians packed the room wearing shirts that stated, “NO MONKEYS, BETTER SCIENCE.” There were so many people in attendance that an overflow room was necessary.

A pair of PETA supporters dressed as wounded goats took over a Paul Smith store’s window display while bearing signs. The action comes after Paul Smith was implicated in a damning undercover investigation into mohair operations in South Africa and Lesotho, which documented workers violently striking goats with brooms and poles, dragging struggling goats by their horns and legs, and pinning goats to the ground as the panicked animals cried out.
