Norfolk, Va. -- Up-and-coming trends are what's on everyone's mind as the year's end approaches, but PETA's "In/Out" list has a lifesaving spin. From sports fans and fashionistas to celeb watchers and cable news addicts, everyone can consult PETA's list to learn which fads are in the doghouse and which trends get two paws up:
| In |
Out |
| A mutt in the White House |
A purebred in any house |
| Skinny Bitch in the Kitch |
Fat carnivore on the couch |
| Thirft store |
Michael Kors |
| Whale Wars |
Deadliest Catch |
| Roller derby |
Kentucky Derby |
| Wolf Blitzer |
Blitzing wolves |
| Hummus |
Hummers |
| Perez Hilton |
Paris Hilton |
| Eating green |
Eating mean |
| Ecorazzi |
Paparazzi |
| Wii fishing |
Fly fishing |
PETA also predicts which celebrities' stars are on the rise and which ones are fading. "Sexiest Vegetarian" Carrie Underwood goes to the top of the class, while "real" (oblivious) girl Jessica Simpson gets a failing grade. Outspoken fur foe Eva Mendes is sizzling hot, but "desperate" fur-flaunter Eva Longoria, not so much.
"Choosing kind trends over cruel ones is pretty much a no-brainer, because compassion is always in fashion," says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. "True trendsetters know that kindness to animals--unlike mood rings and mullets--never goes out of style."
