Veal Eaters: Try to Stomach This One

This one goes out to any stonehearted, selfish so-and-so who still eats veal:

Baby cows are torn from their mothers hours after they’re born and then kept weak and immobile in filthy pens for the entirety of their short lives. And if that fails to register your compassion or your disgust, let’s try this tidbit: Your next veal meal just might be laced with poison.

That’s right—federal charges have been issued against Select Veal Feeds Inc. for allegedly lacing feed with formaldehyde in order to lessen diarrhea and with potassium permanganate to ensure that the anemic calves’ flesh appeared even lighter. Wayne Marcho and Select Veal Feeds are expected to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges of misbranding under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The company also faces a felony charge for lying to Food and Drug Administration inspectors.

The moral of this story? If you eat veal, not only do you contribute to the suffering of an infant, you also risk eating toxic chemicals that you’d find in a high school chemistry lab.

Chris do you really think that people should model their behavior after what other animals do? Should we paint the walls of our cages with our own feces too?

  • Chris says:

Umm so is a full grown lion in the wild morally justified in singling out the baby antelope because it is easier to catch? If I went out and caught a baby cow from the wild and ate it would I be ok? Animals can be cruel to other animals for sustanence but I can’t? Where is the fairness in this world PETA desires?

  • Kurt K says:

Carla Is that a threat? If it is you better watch yourself.

  • carla says:

sorry Kurt.. but if you choose to eat meat and veal.. yes.. so be it if a human gets poisened!!!

  • Tempest Phebus says:

I can’t be a vegan ever. Sorry guys. I eat only white meat now and that’s not even very often. I have even been subjected to eating emus. But I have never will never eat veal. I’ve met so many small farmers who take such good care of their animals before sending them off. But that that is disgusting. Oh it’s way too early to read PETA articles today.

  • Brandon says:

I find the action of eating veal reprehensible. However I would eat a baby with absolutely no qualms what so ever.

  • Michelle says:

People are so damn selfish that they’re willing to overlook the torture of a baby animal for a moment of taste. It’s sad that we live in a society that is motivated ONLY by pleasure and money.

  • Kurt K says:

Katie But humans deserve to be posioned? You are truly an angel.

  • katie says:

As harsh as this may sound I kind of feel like anyone who has the nerve to eat an innocent baby cow who lived a miserable tortured life just so you can have him for dinner deserves to be poisoned. I may sound ridiculous for wishing this upon people but at least I don’t support the veal industry. No animal let alone a baby animal deserves such disgusting treatment.

  • Maureen says:

I just don’t get it I want to know whose pockets are being lined to just walk away from all this abuse. When I read and see things like this I know there has to be a God I do not claim to do the right things all the time but I would never knowingly hurt an animal I love my pets like family members. There definetly needs to be stricter laws governing farm animals. We will never be a totaly meat eating free world.I believe I read about CAK on your website what can be done to make farmers and like do away with their methods that are brutal and to adopt CAKor can we say we have had enough and try to change some laws here because it seems to be getting worse with all this animal abuse. I just wish instead of seeing advertised specials on meat on T.V. we could show just how special your meat really is…..

  • AAG says:

Leave the babies alone! Babies belong with their mothers and should be drinking THEIR mothers’ milk. Go vegan it is a moral imperative.

  • Becci says:

    Mmmmm formaldehyde.

  • anne westerman England says:

unfortunatley we have a lot of sad numbskulls in the world but hey! everthing comes around i wish i could erase all the sad scum from the planet

  • michelle says:

this is sick and sad stop it now pleasezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • muaythai says:

Don’t Italians use veal for recipes it’s a disgrace such a beautiful country. I would protest veal in Italy if I had enough money.

  • christina moschella says:

i have been vegetarian for almost four years nowyay! an growing up I tried to go veggie many times but given i was still under my parents’ rules they didn’t think it was healthy for me. I did however refuse to eat veal and that was something they never forced me to do. They sometimes joked about it but my adamant replies of how cruel it is to not only kill and eat an animal but to kill and eat a BABY animal put an end to their protests. One day hopefully I will convince them to follow in my footsteps. I have already succeeded with one cousin.

  • Lori Snow says:

I just became Vegan but I never ate a baby cow in my life. But for some people that think that drinking milk and eating cheese is okay. You are supporting the production of veal. Their dairy cow mothers are kept pregnant so they keep producing milk and their male calves are taken away to make veal.

  • John says:

The moral is not vealpoison. The moral in this scenario is to be yourself.

  • Tammy says:

Sick! It tears my insides apart and breaks my heart every time I think of those innocent babies being torn from their mothers and then tortured just so an asshole can eat them and shit them out.I will never understand how a person cannot have compassion for all animals especially the the babies.

  • cindy haas says:

Hi Iwant to know why people with infuence and clout can be called upon to shut down any and all animal cruelty places ok? I just go nuts when I read about any animal cruelty. Thanks Cindy Haas

  • Brien Comerford says:

Veal eaters are irreparably morally impoverished.
