Got Beer?

Written by PETA | August 12, 2009

Years later, studies are still proving what the masterminds behind PETA’s “Got Beer?” campaign knew all along: Beer is better than milk.

While that pus-filled glass of milk actually depletes your bone mass, a new study shows that beer just might be the key to keeping your bones from going brittle.

So crack open a cold one while we contemplate pulling an oldie but goodie out of the PETA vault.

Got Beer?

beer causes so many problems i don’t see why you would promote it. i understand you just saying that beer is better than milk, but seriously, drink water, eat fruits and leafy green vegetables, get enough carbs but not from beer come on ppl.

  • Gunseng says:

Dear Charlie S Excessive drink of juice and soy milk doesn’t make you drunk and make your stomach fat.

  • Elphaba says:

I think beer is one of everyone’s favorites Kurt

  • Kurt K says:

Elphaba Good enough for me. I guess I sponsor a ‘vegan’ lifestyle more than I know. I’m from a community that is about 95 German. I myself am half German half Polish. Beer is a rather popular drink around here. In fact it is one of my favorite.

  • Elphaba says:

God help me Kurt I can’t let an honest and reasonable question go unanswered. I have no real sources but according to a google search German purity laws require beer to be made from only four specific ingredients all of which are vegan.

  • Charlie S says:

Hi all Milk is bad of course soy milk production is pollutant juice should be organic but will still damage the enamel on your teeth…oh yeah please remember to check that your beer is vegan as a lot of companies will use isinglass during the purifying process. This also applies to wine….water anyone?

  • tammi says:

This campaign is clearly no good! Please promote juice or soy milk instead of beer. PETA does good work but please don’t promote alcohol and stop showing naked women.

  • Kurt K says:

Michelle Can you explain how German beer is “vegan” and American beer is not. I’m not picking a fight I just want to know what you are talking about. In the words of Tom T. Hall “I like beer it makes me a jolly good fellow!”

  • Michele says:

Soy milk on cereal… Beer after a long hard day at the office Buy German beers they are all vegan due to the German Purity Law!

  • thehawk411 says:

I just think some one has to challenge what always seems to go unchallenged is that milk is good for you. I have not drank milk since I was 10 and I believe that I am healthier for it. Thanks for helping to get the message out.

  • Loren says:

LOL I don’t think we should put beer on our cereal! PETA is trying to say that beer its actually not as bad as milk! Thats what this whole campaign is about. They are not saying you should drink beer all the time!

  • Jess says:

    Yah Beer!

  • Rev. Meg Schramm says:

Oh my!! A minister who admits to drinking?? Yes I do just not to excess. A bottle of beer a week most weeks a six pack usually stays in my fridge a month before it’s depleted. In moderation beer is better than milk. In moderation anything is better than milk. However for those over 21 here are my favorite beers notice almost all of them are from South of the Border Louisiana or Jamaica 1. Abita Turbodog tastes like chocolate which is what it is made from Louisiana USA. 2. Blackened Voodoo Louisiana. 3. Bohemia Mexico. 4. Negro Modelo. 5. Red Stripe Jamaica. 6. Sam Adams USA. 7. Caguama South America. 8. Corona Mexico. 9. Dos Equis Mexico. 10. Tecate Mexico.

  • Fur is dead, so stop complaining. says:

Beer is way better than milk anyone knows that!

  • Mike says:

So PETA are suggesting we ought to get up in the morning and put beer on our cornflakes before going to work I guess if drink driving is preferable to drinking milk then PETA might have a point.

  • Brien Comerford says:

I prefer soymilk whiskey and scotch and lots of veggie patties without any bread.

  • Jacob says:

Okay let me get this straight. You once pulled out a PSA that contained a thought that people thought was bad for their children so they censored it. Here is how I think most people think Milk is good. Beer is bad These people are trying to say that beer is better than milk but we know beer is bad so they are encouraging people to drink something they shouldn’t. But as I see it the PSA is trying to say “Contrary to popular belief milk is actually really bad SO BAD it’s worse than beer.” If you’re open to suggestions I think something like that should replace “Better then milk” on your poster. So as you see people are missing the point. I bet this is what’s happening every time someone says “PETA’s latest campaign is offensive! Everything they say is moot!” So now we have another bullet added to our almost unlimited pile of ammo so to speak that can make this poster less offensive. But our elevated knowledge of these matters makes it really hard to make our PSAs idiotproof. So despite having a deeper basis in fact I bet MADD is still going to freak out over this. Not that MADD is idiotic but they might not understand the poster As I said the poster could stand to be reworded.

  • Edward says:

    Grr…this campaign makes me MADD.

  • Rachel A says:

Agreedbeer is way better than pus sorry milk. Don’t forget though that many beers wines and ciders are processed with isinglass a kind of gelatin taken from the swimbladder of certain fish. Check out the list of approved alcohol here httpwww.veggiewines.co.ukpopularbeers.htm

  • Aneliese says:

Haha that will be great for the college kids. I can’t drink beer yet got to be 18.
