What’s not vegan in the beverage aisle? Drinks containing dairy should be left on the shelf, but almost everything else is fair game, from sodas to soy milks, ciders to chai concentrates (mix them with soy milk or rice milk for a delicious dairy-free latte). Also look for vegan energy drinks, hot chocolate mixes, teas, smoothie mixes, and more.

can anyone tell me is coca cola zero vegan please???? Thank you

  • Nathan Babcock says:

can anyone tell me which monster energy products are Vegan and which aren’t? any helpful any information is greatly appreciated

  • Vanessa-C says:

@Jennifer: We believe it is vegan, but companies do sometimes change their ingredients, so it’s important to check ingredients on the product before purchasing in case they have changed.

  • Jennifer says:

On the Bolthouse website they do not list the vanilla chai tea under their vegan products but this website says it is…. I’m a very new vegan and I’m confused! Is it Vegan or is it not?

  • David Nyanga'anga says:

Great! anything not vegan shd be avoided

  • Emily Sicignano says:

Are there any animal ingredients in Vanilla chai tea? is the lactate or any other ingredient animal derived? It doesnt say if this list is vegan, it says vegetarian which i am not.

  • perth says:

What about the pacific Hazelnut chocolate and Almond chocolate milks? Both are yum but they arn’t listed. Have I been drinking animal products??

  • Anon says:

And how, pray tell, do you consider bone char (!) of all things to ‘not be an animal product’? You might wish to re-think that one…

Too right! Nestle is one to avoid anyway, due to their well-known support/funding of animal testing.

As for liquor, Barnivore has a fairly extensive list of what’s veg*n and what’s not. You could check there.

If you have a very lax definition of ‘vegetarian’, it’s possible. I wouldn’t consider such a thing to be truly vegetarian though, due to the presence of honey (not only a by-product of animal labour but also one that directly harms them during the extraction process).

  • Katy says:

@brilliantbrit when they say vegan, they mean it doesn’t contain any animal products.

  • Brilliantbrit says:

How is gatorade vegan? Several of the products on this list contain REFINED sugar. Any kind of sugar that is not raw sugar, evaporated cane sugar, and honey are not VEGAN.

I read that refined WHITE sugar is processed and filtered through animal bone char.

  • Cleo says:

Be careful when it comes to Nestle and Hersheys brands, they often don’t use fair trade chocolate. If it’s made using human slaves, it’s not vegan!

  • Cleo says:

Where’s the beer and wine lists?

  • Jasmine says:

Do you know if Green tea with Honey ginseng by the brand Arizona is okay if your a vegetarian?

  • Walt says:

Coke and Pepsi both use animal products which they avoid disclosing by including under ‘natural flavors’.

  • Shahzad says:

Hi, I was wondering why you haven’t listed sodas like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Sprite, 7-UP, and Mountain Dew, etc. Also most of the colors in drinks come from insects, so do you consider insect derived products as non-vegetarian also? Your answers will help me decide to join your club.

  • Kenny says:

Leanne… Here is the just of Taurine. Taurine, or 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, is an organic acid widely distributed in animal tissues. It is a major constituent of bile and can be found in the large intestine and accounts for approximately 0.1% of total human body weight. Taurine has many fundamental biological roles such as conjugation of bile acids, antioxidation, osmoregulation, membrane stabilization and modulation of calcium signaling. It is essential for cardiovascular function, and development and function of skeletal muscle, the retina and the central nervous system. Taurine is unusual among biological molecules in being a sulfonic acid, while the vast majority of biologically occurring acids contain the more weakly acidic carboxyl group. While taurine is sometimes called an amino acid, and indeed is an acid containing an amino group, it is not an amino acid in the usual biochemical meaning of the term, which refers to compounds containing both an amino and a carboxyl group.

  • michelle luna says:

they forgot to list the so delicious brand of non-dairy milks. they even make coconut milks now! 🙂

  • MysticoVerdi says:

@Leanne Yes, I do believe you are right. I have also heard that the ingredient taurine used in energy drinks comes from bulls. But, I do believe, if I am not mistaken, that Red Bull Energy Drinks are vegan as their taurine is a synthetic version, not from animals. Hope that helps, but if not, I suggest you persoanlly contact a Customer Representative at Red Bull to find out for sure.

  • SK says:

So, V8 is not vegan? Cuz I loove that stuff. If not, are there any suggestions for a vegan version? Of course there is always homemade.

  • Catie says:

Not sure if this is mentioned somewhere else but Zevia brand sodas are vegan (and good!).

  • Leanne says:

I was just wondering about taurine in energy drinks, someone told me it comes from bulls, I just wanted to make sure I have all my facts right!

  • Sabrina says:

Try almond milk or rice milk.
there is even hemp milk (milk from hemp seeds). they all taste pretty good! i persoonally prefer almond milk and hemp milk.

also, you can make your own as well. asians have been making beverages from rice for a long time (they also make soy milk).

as for proteins, maybe eat more beans and lentils if you can’t eat soy. it’s better anyway as the soy burgers are like highly processed (coloured, flavor added). i like to make curry chickpeas, red beans and carrot. delicious and nutritious!

  • connie says:

you guys are soooo into soy products!!! i am allergic to soy products and when i eat or drink anything soy i get sharp pains all over my body…. could you give me a list of beverages or food that does not have soy in it? i want to become vegan ….but can’t touch soy products/….thank u
