Urgent From PETA: Kilauea Survival Tips for Animals

As the Kilauea volcano causes more devastation on the island, ash emissions are dangerous to both humans and non-humans—and animals could die if left behind during further evacuations.

While masks can protect humans from ash filled with sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, dogs and cats don’t have that option. Residents in affected areas should keep animals indoors and avoid all outdoor activities. During evacuations, animals must never be left behind—and anyone who sees animals in distress and is unable to help should note their locations and alert authorities immediately.
