M.A.C. Pays for Tests on Animals—Here Are 2,000+ Brands That Don’t

Published by .

Back in 2012, we were outraged to learn that some top, formerly cruelty-free beauty companies were paying for cruel and deadly poisoning tests on animals in China. We know you were let down by the news that one of those companies was longtime cruelty-free favorite M.A.C. Cosmetics.

While M.A.C. is still selling in China and paying for animal tests for its products, we have some good news for you: You have more than 2,000 great cruelty-free companies to choose from instead!

As always, you can check our database of cruelty-free companies to see if a particular company is naughty or nice. Here are some of our compassionate favorites:

Tarte

BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer SPF 30 is an all-in-one primer, moisturizer, light foundation, treatment, and sunscreen.

Urban Decay

Trick everyone into thinking you’ve just returned from an exotic vacation, or just accentuate what you’ve already got with Urban Decay’s Beached Bronzer. No need for any animals to be hurt in the pursuit of the perfect sun-kissed look.

Sugarpill’s palettes come with many vegan shadows to make your makeup dreams come true.

Johnny Concert

You’ll be ready for your cruelty-free close-up with any of Johnny Concert’s AMPlified eyeshadows.

Lime Crime

You can choose from 20 shades of vegan lipstick, including this Soft Touch Lipstick, thanks to Lime Crime. The company also makes eye shadow, eyeliner, nail polish, and lip gloss.

KVD Beauty

KVD Beauty offers us the perfect eye liner to help you achieve that glorious winged look. M.A.C. who?

Physicians Formula

The All-in-1 Beauty Balm Cream is a 2-in-1 so you won’t have too many compacts taking up space in your purse.

Too Faced

We can’t speak as to whether Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara‘s name rings true for everyone, but we can definitely tell you it’s better than M.A.C.’s mascaras—because it’s vegan and cruelty-free.

Want to help more? Tell M.A.C. that you won’t buy its products as long as they’re tested on animals.
