It’s been nearly 1,500 years since animals and gladiators fought to the death in the Roman Colosseum. Isn’t it time that bullfights ended?
A clever new video from the Fédération des Luttes pour l’Abolition des Corridas, a French anti-bullfighting advocacy group, is showing just how archaic bullfighting really is:

Even in the bloody battles of the Colosseum, the animals were given at least a fighting chance. But in today’s staged “bullfights,” the bulls don’t have a prayer. Typically, before the matador even puts on glitter pants, the bull’s vision is impaired and he is weakened by being beaten. Once in the arena, lances are driven into the animal’s neck and back muscles and are then twisted to ensure significant blood loss.
When your actions are barbaric by even 500 A.D. standards, it’s time to stop.
