All Jokes Aside! Nikki Glaser Earns PETA’s International Women’s Day Award
Good, Clean… Animal Advocacy! Comedian Nikki Glaser might love a good human roast, but she never misses the chance to speak up for our fellow animals—and that’s why PETA is honoring her with our first-ever “Stand Up for Animals Award” for International Women’s Day!

A Bangin’ Voice for Animal Rights
A longtime vegan, Nikki Glaser only does the killing on stage—and when it comes to industries that exploit and abuse other animals, the compassionate comedian always punches up. In one memorable PETA campaign, the fearless performer bared all to urge everyone to “Never Steal Anyone’s Material”—including animals’ wool, skin, feathers, and fur. The ad served as a striking reminder that in the fashion industry, workers hit, kick, and mutilate sheep for their wool; leave sensitive goats with bloody, gaping wounds at mohair and cashmere operations; burn, electroshock, beat, and slaughter cows for leather; yank out the feathers of ducks and geese by the fistful for down; and imprison minks and other animals in filthy wire cages on fur factory farms.

Glaser also pressed SeaWorld executives at the company’s virtual annual meeting, imploring them to “please, for the love of God, stop imprisoning and forcibly impregnating dolphins and whales and sentencing them to a miserable fate … in tiny tragic tanks.” More than 40 orcas and 500 other dolphins and whales have died in SeaWorld’s concrete tanks. Glaser’s plea was part of PETA’s massive campaign to urge the company to end its use of animals, stop breeding all dolphins and whales, and relocate them to seaside sanctuaries.
Glaser doesn’t want human kids, but the stand-up star is a wonderful parent to her three adopted dogs—and she’s quick to remind her fans to always choose adoption if they are ready to provide a lifetime of love and care for a companion animal. By advocating for adoption, she’s tackling the companion animal homelessness and overpopulation crisis, which causes millions of cats and dogs to suffer on the streets and puts pressure on shelters, which are already overflowing with unwanted animals.
