San Francisco -- The world's interest in animal rights issues is greater than ever, and PETA can barely keep up with the deluge of requests from the group's 2 million members and others who want to "do something" other than protest outside fast-food restaurants or disrupt a fur fashion show. It turns out that there are many easy--and sometimes surprising--ways to make a difference, as PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk reveals in The PETA Practical Guide to Animal Rights, which is now available from St. Martin's Press.

When:   Monday, February 22, 5:30 p.m.

Where:  Aveda Experience Center, Westfield San Francisco Centre, 845 Market St., San Francisco

On Monday, Newkirk will join eco-beauty leader Aveda--which has twice received awards from PETA for its pioneering cruelty-free beauty products--for a discussion on cruelty-free living. The talk will also focus on animal testing for toiletries and cosmetics, and Newkirk will read from and sign copies of The PETA Practical Guide to Animal Rights.
