Group Joins Williston Police Department in Effort to Bring Animal Abuser to Justice

Williston, Fla. -- A 10-day-old puppy was buried alive and found on September 27 by Williston police when they heard whimpering. Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the burial and abandonment of this puppy. That's why PETA is adding up to $2,500 to existing rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this callous crime.
"Animal abusers are cowards," says PETA Manager Martin Mersereau. "They take their issues out on the most defenseless beings available to them. Area residents have good reason to be concerned when a helpless, days-old animal is buried alive. According to law-enforcement agencies and leading mental-health professionals, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat to all animals—including humans."
Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Williston Police Department at 352-528-4991.
