Toronto -- They're known for wearing only lingerie while playing full-contact football, but now the brave women from the Lingerie Football League's (LFL) Toronto Triumph are teaming up with PETA in order to tackle cruelty. In a special PETA demonstration to be held in front of Toronto's Eaton Centre on Wednesday—two days before they head to Pennsylvania to face off against the Philadelphia Passion—the athletes will appear in their uniforms and hold signs that read, "Tackle Cruelty: Bench Fur," to encourage all Torontonians to leave fur off their holiday shopping lists.

When:   Wednesday, December 7, 12 noon sharp

Where:  Outside Eaton Centre, 220 Yonge St. (at the intersection with Dundas Street), Toronto

"Wearing fur is a personal foul," says PETA campaigner Emily Lavender. "With so many stylish, warm, and durable fabrics available today, there's no excuse for wearing anyone's skin."

Behind every piece of fur is an enormous amount of animal suffering. Animals who are killed for their fur are trapped, drowned, beaten, electrocuted, or even skinned alive. Other athletes who have teamed up with PETA to speak out against fur include Tony Gonzalez, Amar'e Stoudemire, Candace Parker, Chad Ochocinco, and Gilbert Arenas.

Many top fashion designers and retailers—including Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, J.Crew, and Forever 21—are 100 percent fur-free.
