Milwaukee — First came Major League Baseball in 2002, followed by the NFL in 2008. Now, for the first time, thanks to the explosion in vegetarian options at sports venues across the continent, PETA has ranked the top 10 most vegetarian-friendly NBA arenas, and the BMO Harris Bradley Center, home of the Milwaukee Bucks, is number four.
"Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis were All-Star snub victims, but animal-friendly Bucks fans can bet that they won't be snubbed at the BMO Harris Bradley Center's concession stands," says PETA Associate Director of Campaigns Lindsay Rajt. "Getting healthy and delicious meat-free fare at the Bradley Center is a slam dunk."
Topping PETA's list of favorites are the vegan sloppy Joes with soy-based tempeh, peppers, onions, and brown-sugar barbecue sauce, followed by the veggie burgers, PB&J sandwiches, and dairy-free NuGo dark chocolate energy bars. Fans in the premium seating areas can also enjoy spicy rice noodles with ginger-pickled red cabbage, scallions, and cilantro; hot flatbread sandwiches with marinated tofu, pesto, chipotle vegan mayo, and vegetables; udon noodles with cabbage, carrots, toasted peanuts, and peanut dressing; herb-roasted bistro-style vegetables with fresh rosemary, thyme, and garlic; and more.
STAPLES Center, home to both the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, came in first place for its vegan sushi and grilled-veggie sandwich, followed by runner-up Air Canada Centre, home of the Toronto Raptors, with its chutney-topped Bollywood veggie dog, vegetarian burrito, and lettuce, tomato, and scallion veggie dog. Rounding out the top 10 are the Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia 76ers), Oracle Arena (Golden State Warriors), the Rose Garden (Portland Trail Blazers), the United Center (Chicago Bulls), the AT&T Center (San Antonio Spurs), Bankers Life Fieldhouse (Indiana Pacers), and The Palace of Auburn Hills (Detroit Pistons).
