Los Angeles -- This Thursday, on the eve of Mexico's highly promoted bullfighting festival, Latin music icon Charo will lead a rally on historic Olvera Street in Los Angeles. Charo has a simple message for tourists: Don't attend the gran corrida. Charo, a native of Spain who grew up attending weekly bullfights with her father, will also screen her new anti-bullfighting PETA video at the rally.

When:   Thursday, June 24, 12 noon sharp

Where:  El Paseo Inn, 11 E.  Olvera Street, Los Angeles

"This animal doesn't need to be punished, just to entertain yourself and sacrifice this beautiful animal," says Charo. "Just to spend 45 minutes enjoying the death of a living thing is barbaric and has to go."

Charo is not alone in saying "No!" to bullfights. Barcelona is poised to ban bullfighting throughout Catalonia.
