Canton, Mass. -- Reebok's Deep Range II has won the Libby Award for Best Men's Vegan Basketball Shoe from peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization. The fourth annual Libby Awards ("Libby" is short for "liberation") honor animal-friendly people and products. Visitors to peta2.com helped the group determine the winners by voting for their favorites in each category.

The streamlined, leather-free Deep Range II feels great and has all the latest technology to make it a top performer. The shoe features resilient and durable foam that pads the heel, ensuring that customers spend most of their time on the court--not nursing injuries on the bench. The Deep Range II is animal-friendly, saving the lives of countless factory-farmed cows who are routinely branded, dehorned, and castrated--all without being given any painkillers. And because raising animals for food and leather produces more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, trucks, planes, and trains in the world combined, the shoe is also a good fit for the planet.

"The Deep Range II allows you to play at the top of your game without costing a cow an 'arm and a leg,'" says peta2 Director Dan Shannon. "We commend Reebok for producing top-notch leather-free shoes that are as kind to animals as they are to your feet."

The Deep Range II won out over Nike's Hyperize, ASICS' GEL-Crossover, and Adidas' TS Lightspeed T-Mac.

Thirty-eight Libby Awards were given out this year, recognizing everything from the most animal-friendly athlete and record label to the most animal-friendly rock band and clothing company. Winners will receive plaques and will be featured on peta2.com.
