Los Angeles -- The only thing that can match the on-court skills of Los Angeles Sparks star forward Candace Parker is her heart. Parker--who was the first WNBA player to be named Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player in the same season--took time out of her busy schedule to pose alongside her beloved rescued mutt Fendi for PETA's latest anti-fur campaign. The ad, which was shot by ace photographer Jason Grow, reads, "If You Wouldn't Wear Your Dog, Please Don't Wear Any Fur."

"I feel very passionate about the fur campaign for PETA," says Parker. "I really feel like it's very cruel what [fur businesses] do to animals. ... [A]nimals don't have a voice, so people have to speak for them."
Parker has also been named Female Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press and is a two-time NCAA women's basketball champion and MVP. She took her tough stand against fur after learning about how foxes, minks, coyotes, lynx, and even cats and dogs are bludgeoned to death, electrocuted, strangled, or drowned for their pelts. As shown in video footage from PETA's undercover investigations, many animals who are killed for their fur are skinned alive.
Parker joins a growing list of athletes and other celebrities--including Tony Gonzalez, Amar'e Stoudemire, Ron Artest, Dennis Rodman, Eva Mendes, and Charlize Theron--who have starred in PETA's ad campaigns.
