Battle Creek, Mich. -- Morningstar Farms' Grillers Chik'n Veggie Patties have won the Libby Award for Best Fake Chicken from peta2, the world's largest youth animal rights organization. The fourth annual Libby Awards ("Libby" is short for "liberation") honor animal-friendly people and products. Visitors to peta2.com helped the group determine the winners by voting for their favorites in each category.

For more than 25 years, Morningstar Farms has been making meatless options for compassionate buyers. From Grillers Vegan Veggie Burgers, Meal Starters Chik'n Strips, and Hickory BBQ Riblets, there's a Morningstar Farms product to complete just about any home-cooked meal. Morningstar Farms was started by Worthington Foods in the 1970's and is now a division of the Kellogg Company.

"Morningstar Farms makes it easy to choose a compassionate lifestyle because it offers flavorful products with no cruelty added," says peta2 youth outreach coordinator Paige Snyder. "Morningstar Farms is among the growing number of companies that are satisfying America's hunger for healthy and humane cuisine."

Morningstar Farms' entry won out over other popular faux-chicken products, including Boca's Original Chik'n Patties, Gardein's Chick'n Scallopini, and Whole Foods' Vegan General Tso's Chicken.

Thirty-eight Libby Awards were given out this year, recognizing everything from the most animal-friendly athlete and record label to the most animal-friendly rock band and clothing company. Winners will receive plaques and will be featured on peta2.com.
