'Injured Bunny' to Lead PETA Protest of bebe's Fur Sales

Group Calls on Retailer to Stop Contributing to Painful and Terrifying Deaths of Rabbits

Boston -- Accompanied by an activist wearing a "bloodied" rabbit costume and holding signs that read, "bebe Bunny Butchers," PETA members will hold a spirited protest outside the bebe store in downtown Boston on Friday. Their point? That the fur trade is a violent, bloody industry that beats, drowns, and electrocutes animals before ripping off their skins—often while they are still conscious.

When:   Friday, January 25, 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.

Where:  Outside bebe, 351 Newbury St., near the intersection with Massachusetts Avenue, Boston

"Every fur jacket or piece of fur trim came from animals who were tormented and painfully killed in the name of 'fashion,'" says PETA Associate Director of Campaigns Lindsay Rajt. "If bebe doesn't want to be a target of caring consumers everywhere, the company should drop the fur."

Undercover investigations have revealed that rabbits on Chinese fur farms—one of the countries from which bebe obtains fur—are pulled out of cages by their ears and struggle as they are stunned with electrical devices. They are then hung upside down, screaming and kicking, and are forced to watch those ahead of them die violently before their own throats are cut.

PETA is calling on bebe to follow the lead of Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, Forever 21, Wet Seal, and many other companies by removing all fur from its shelves immediately. More than 80,000 people have taken action against bebe because of its use of fur.
