Lansing, Mich. -- Lying in pools of "blood" and with their bare legs caught in giant traps under a banner that reads, "Animals Suffer in Traps," three fur-clad PETA members will protest at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Washington Square on Thursday. Their point? That if fur-wearers got a taste of what happens to animals who are trapped or raised for fur, they might think twice about draping themselves in pelts.

When:   Thursday, November 5, 12 noon

Where:  Intersection of Michigan Avenue and Washington Square, Lansing

Animals trapped for fur suffer excruciating pain before they are bludgeoned or stomped to death by trappers. Animals raised on fur farms often go insane from being confined to tiny, filthy cages in all weather extremes before they are electrocuted, poisoned, or gassed or have their necks broken. An undercover investigation in China--now the world's leading fur exporter--revealed that animals, including cats and dogs, are often skinned alive.

"The true feel of fur is pain and death," says PETA campaigner Kate Brindle. "With so many warm and fashionable alternatives available, there's no excuse for wearing fur."
