Los Angeles -- New PETA "cover girl" Kelly Carlson, who plays the volatile Kimber Henry on Nip/Tuck, knows that true beauty doesn't come from a surgeon's scalpel but from a compassionate heart for animals. As the face of PETA's new "Cruelty-Free Shopping Guide," Carlson encourages consumers to buy only products that have not been pumped into rats' stomachs, dripped into rabbits' eyes, or smeared onto the raw, abraded skin of guinea pigs.
"Animals shouldn't be nipped or tucked in order to test cosmetics or household products," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "You don't have to blind a bunny or pour poison down a rat's throat to look your best or to clean your house."
Carlson--whose other credits include the hit movie Made of Honor and the popular television series Melrose Place--wants to spread the word about how easy it is to go cruelty-free. Hundreds of companies--including Revlon, Bath & Body Works, Estee Lauder, Urban Decay, e.l.f. cosmetics, Yes To Carrots, and LUSH--evaluate their products' safety without using cruel tests on animals.
