Here’s How to Be Vegan According to Your Astrological Sign

Published by .

Do you believe in astrology? The 12 signs of the zodiac represent archetypes, which some people think are reflected in our individual personalities. Those who believe in astrology think that the planets and other celestial bodies have a strong influence over everything on Earth, including your health! Whether you’re a believer or you just find it fun to read your weekly horoscope, this guide can help you be healthier and kinder by keeping animals in mind.

Aries ♈

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, represented by the ram. Just like a ram, people born under this sign charge forward in life with power and boldness. With all that boundless energy, be sure to fuel your body properly by eating plenty of healthy carbohydrates, from brown rice to bananas. Limit alcohol, caffeine, and spicy, salty foods, as they can add fuel to your fire—you’re ruled by the planet Mars (named for the Roman god of war), so no need to heat things up!

Taurus ♉

Taurus is a Venus-ruled earth sign, and those born under it are known for being the culinary connoisseurs of the zodiac. You probably have a taste for the good things in life, which is what everyone loves about you. Take a trip to the farmer’s market for the best fruits, like pomegranates, strawberries, and fresh-picked apples—and be careful not to overindulge in rich and heavy foods. Taurus is represented by the bull, so use that Taurus dedication to stand up for bulls, who are often abused and killed for entertainment in the cruel bullfighting industry.

Gemini ♊

Variety is truly the spice of life for mutable, Mercury-ruled Gemini. Your curiosity is probably your best trait, so use it to try new, exciting foods. Because they’re grown in the earth, fruits and veggies can help ground some of that excitable air-sign energy. It might be best to limit your caffeine intake, since your mind is already active. A tapas-style meal or a vegan charcuterie board are great options for you, with lots of different flavors to keep you interested.

Cancer ♋

Ruled by the Moon, Cancers supposedly love comfort and connection, and just like crabs, they’re always willing to defend their friends and family. Sharing meals with loved ones is a wonderful way for you to eat. Just make sure that you’re giving your body the nutrient-dense foods it needs. Go for whole grains, rice, and oats for your carbohydrates and plenty of fiber-rich veggies like broccoli and cauliflower. Vegan yogurts can also be wonderfully soothing for you. Cancers can sometimes have sensitive stomachs, so keep refined sugars and oily foods to a minimum and choose steamed preparations.

Leo ♌

Represented by the regal lion, Leos are allegedly natural-born leaders who love to be in the spotlight. They are also known for being radiant, since they’re ruled by the Sun. To maintain that radiance, be sure to get plenty of micronutrients in your diet by eating a rainbow of foods—bright citrus, dark greens, colorful root vegetables, and other fresh and vibrant fruits and veggies will help you keep that gorgeous, natural glow.

Virgo ♍

Virgos love creating order in their lives, so meal prepping might be a great way for you to stay healthy. Make a big batch of overnight oats for breakfast, roast your favorite veggies with flavorful spices for healthy lunch bowls, and whip up a hearty soup for dinner. Virgos may have trouble with digestion sometimes, so make sure that you’re eating enough fiber and limiting excessively rich foods.

Libra ♎

It’s all about balance and connection for Venus-ruled Libra. Hosting a multicourse dinner party for your friends or going out to a new restaurant might be your preferred way of enjoying food. However you’re eating, be sure to balance heavy, decadent foods with steamed veggies and fresh fruit.

Scorpio ♏

Scorpio is an often-misunderstood sign. Like their animal counterpart the scorpion, Scorpios might be standoffish to people they don’t know, but they are loyal, lifelong friends to those they deem worthy. You might prefer sharing your deepest feelings with a close friend over a good meal. Enjoy oily, salty, and sweet foods in moderation, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Sagittarius ♐

Like its sister sign, Gemini, Sagittarius is supposedly highly adaptable and craves knowledge. Because of this, you’re probably an adventurous eater. Expand your palate by trying new foods from around the world, and use food to learn about new cultures. Don’t go too far with alcohol, spicy foods, or sweets, though—keep your diet balanced with plenty of whole grains and veggies.

Capricorn ♑

This earth sign should be sure to take in lots of the Earth’s bounty—fruits and vegetables! Capricorns may seem restrained at first, but they are natural leaders and have a deep love for the good things in life. Fine dining might be your favorite way to experience food, so be sure to visit these high-end vegan restaurants or learn how to make fancy dishes at home with the best ingredients.

Aquarius ♒

Rebels of the zodiac, Aquarius people love to pave their own way in the world. You might be interested in all the new, innovative vegan foods on the horizon, such as lab-grown meat. You also probably find all the new vegan spots before anyone else does, you trailblazer! As an air sign, you can be a bit scattered, so be sure to keep your caffeine levels in check and eat grounding foods like steamed vegetables and nuts.

Pisces ♓

This sign is known for its depth of emotion, so you might be prone to emotional eating—just be sure to eat nutritious foods. Seaweed is a great source of nutrients for this water sign, along with rice and steamed vegetables. (Can you say vegan sushi?) You also probably like to get creative with your meals, so let your inner chef out every once in a while. Pisces is the sign related to fish and ocean life—you can protect aquatic animals and our planet’s oceans by keeping fish off your plate.
