Chocolate Chip–Peanut Butter Hummus

Who would think that a dessert-flavored hummus could be appetizing, let alone rave-worthy? Trust me, I was skeptical at first, but this sweet and creamy hummus definitely satisfied my sweet tooth.

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Hummus

By leaving out the eggs, milk, and butter found in many desserts, you can save yourself some extra calories and help save animals too! Translation: This is a dessert that you can feel good about eating. What more could you want? 😉

Chocolate Chip–Peanut Butter Hummus
1 15-oz. can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup natural creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup agave nectar
1/2 cup vegan semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Place the chickpeas, peanut butter, and agave nectar in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Transfer to a bowl and stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Serve with animal or graham crackers.

Makes 6 servings

Now, I know you’re probably still perplexed by this recipe. But don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it!

    Switched it up to be with maple syrup, chunky p.b and added cocoa into it instead of chocolate chips…tasty dippin’! Thanks for sharing.

    I’m probably the only vegetarian around that is NOT a fan of hummus and I can’t imagine making it sweet would improve it. I hate the grainy texture.

    We try to keep our toddler away from desserts and sweet foods so we don’t mess up her palate. But occasionally I just love watching her lose herself to a vegan smore or something similar. This recipe was incredible. She loves dipping, she loves hummus, and I think she would have eaten the whole bowl given have the chance. It’s delicious too. Thanks!

    I swear, you read my mind with this post–I’m so glad I stumbled upon it! I have always been a little so-so on hummus. It either seems to salty or too spicy, or just something that seems like it should be sweet instead of savory. This looks like the perfect compromise! I absolutely love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter and can hardly wait to try making it! I noticed you recommend serving it with graham crackers; do you think it would be too strange to put on celery sticks?

    I had my doubts about this one. But it is frigging awesome! It kind of reminds me of when my grandma used to make chocolate chip cookies, and I would sneak some of the dough.

    We served it on mini pita breads- brushed with olive oil and sprinkled with cinnamon/sugar then “baked” for a few minutes in the oven. YUM!

    I have just switched to a vegan diet, and thought that hummus was just made with tahini. This sounds so good, and so easy to make! I can’t wait to try it.

    I just made this but I used white beans and sugar instead of agave. Since sugar is less sweet, it needed a little more than 1/4 cup. Anyway, it was amazing. All three of my kids, none of whom will eat hummus normally, loved it and asked for more!

    It looks so good! I bet it would taste good with apples or cinnamon pita chips.

    HMMM would it be just as good with honey? I rarely use honey and I have so much left and I don’t want to buy agave nectar that I know I won’t use often.

    I was just saying that I am going to make Hummus this weekend and eat it with my Baked Lentil Chips, but I think I am going to try the Hummus with the CC in it. In the picture you show of this it kind of reminds me of Cookie Dough.
