Chinese Takeout—at Home!

Written by Vanessa Cunningham | February 7, 2013

My absolute favorite grub has always been Chinese food. I love sesame tofu, vegan orange chicken, spicy Kung Pao faux chicken or tofu, and vegan fried rice—and don’t even get me started on my love for chow mein! Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of good Chinese restaurants in my neighborhood, so when I get my Chinese food cravings, my culinary-challenged self has to get creative. Here are some of my favorite vegan options that are delicious and easy to make and that always curb my cravings for Chinese food.

Appetizers

Annie Chun’s Spicy Vegetable Wonton Soup

Annie Chun’s Organic Shiitake & Vegetable Potstickers

Main Course

Vegetarian Plus Vegan Orange Chicken

Vegetarian Plus Vegan Kung Pao Chicken

Uncle Ben’s Oriental Style Rice

Simply Asia Sweet & Sour (or Szechwan Garlic Chow) Mein Quick Noodles

Dessert

La Choy Fortune Cookies

Special Ingredient

No meal is complete without the one, the only—Sriracha.

There you have it: an entire Chinese take-out meal at home! Remember to use Sriracha at your own risk. ;)

And here are a couple of related recipes for those who are a bit more ambitious:

Chinese Noodle Salad

Chinese Hot Pot

Dynamite Tofu With Rice and Broccoli

Nice but can we find a less processed, less GMO laden way to enjoy this meal? I am vegan, and also an environmentalist…this just would NOT do.

Are there still fur farms in asia and if so where are they located. I want to go to Asia and put a stop to the fur farms at any cost.
