Autumn is a beautiful time of year. Vibrant greens mellow to yellow and then fade to shades of orange, red and brown.
But it can be a confusing time of year for wardrobe choices, too. Cool mornings melt away with the rising sun, producing warm (and wonderful) afternoons ... until chilly breezes bring down temperatures when the sun sets. The key to successfully dressing for the changing seasons and these temperature transitions is simple: layers. This outfit, for example, starts with a base layer of a pair of comfortable, relaxed jeans paired with a long-sleeved but lightweight cotton henley in an appropriately autumnal hue. In those early morning or late evening hours, you can keep the chill in the air and off you by layering on a snuggly, soft vest that warms your core without causing the rest of you to overheat. It is also the best season for cute boots. Think about it: In the winter boots have to stand up to the extreme cold, slush and snow. In spring, rainboots are the rage for coping with soggy, wet weather. Fall boots, on the other hand, are fabulous fashion accessories. They may help keep toes toasty when temperatures dip, but they don't have to prevent frostbite or soggy socks. Today, so many designers and manufacturers are producing faux leather, pseudo-suede, and even cool canvas boots that there are plenty of options to choose from, whether you want to walk in the woods or just look ruggedly good-looking heading out to a fall flick at your local theater.
What to Wear:
