Victory: Joie Clothing Label Bans Fur Following Talks With PETA

Dutch—the parent company of clothing labels Equipment, Current/Elliott and Joie—has agreed to ban fur! This is great news for rabbits and other animals, who are still slaughtered and skinned by the millions for fur.

Animals on fur farms spend their entire lives confined to cramped, filthy wire cages, where they slowly go insane until they’re electrocuted, gassed, poisoned, and even skinned alive. Other animals are caught in steel-jaw traps and sometimes attempt to chew off their own limbs to escape. If trapped animals don’t die from blood loss, infection, or gangrene, trappers strangle, beat, or stomp them to death.

Considering that Dutch’s products are available in shops in more than 2,000 locations in 75 countries—as well as online and through its retail outlets—this decision sends a strong message to other clothing companies: Now is the time to consider animals and the environment when making business decisions and to think of fur as a shameful relic of the past.

With all the gorgeous vegan materials on the market today, including soft, high-quality faux fur, it’s clear that the future of fashion is compassion.

Fur-Free Future

Dutch joins hundreds of other companies that are fur-free, including J.Crew, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, H&M, Gap Inc., Inditex (which owns Zara), Ann Inc., and Benetton. We encourage shoppers to support only kind, forward-thinking retailers such as these brands.

Encourage Michael Kors to get with the times and ditch fur, too!
