Back-to-School in the Bag, Freebies to Nab!

The following is a guest post by PETA staffer Royale.

It’s August, and you know what that means—back to school! As far back as I can remember, I’ve always loved this month for that very reason. Not that I loved going back to school, but the shopping that commences just before one does so is, well, worth submitting to the semesters that follow. Although I graduated from college five years ago, I still go “back-to-school shopping”—hey, it’s nostalgic, and I’m practicing for when I have children of my own. So whether you’re heading back to the classroom or just want to honor tradition (hehe), you’re going to need a bag to carry you through until spring.

Some of you might be surprised to learn that millions of animals are slaughtered each year and turned into shoes, handbags, belts, and other accessories. With tons of fashionable and cruelty-free alternatives available, it doesn’t take a genius to realize that killing animals just ain’t smart. So don’t fail your animal friends this fall—go faux for all your back-to-school fashions.

Studious or studious, I’ve got just the satchels you’ve been searching for. Plus, two lucky winners have a chance to win my fabulous Navoh picks (this teacher’s playing favorites: the Christopher and Chambers) by leaving a comment below! Tell me what cruelty-free products you’d carry in your new bag—if there’s one thing that I like as much as accessories, it’s makeup!

These bags look fabulous! It’s not really enough to just eat cruelty-free. You have to live it.

My purse has my life in it. There is my organic cotton and hemp wallet, recycled paper planner, a Luna bar, a book (“Random Acts of Kindness by Animals” by Stephanie Leland), and makeup. I use E.L.F. makeup mostly. They work with PETA, too. I also like Everyday Minerals and Urban Decay.

Also, my birthday is September 16th. You announce the winners on the 17th. This would be the most amazing birthday present!!! And I’ve always wanted a cruelty-free purse! =]

I am a firm animal advocate and fully support PETA’S initatives. I proudly attend peaceful march’s outside of circus’s (one of the cruelest forms of so called entertainment), I also peacefully protest at restaurants that serve foie gras, and lend my voice to animal advocacy when ever and where ever possible.
Keep up th good work, PETA!

It is great to keep handy for hot days when you are running around or going to the gym and notice that your hair needs some refreshing! It makes my hair look clean and grease-free for when I don’t have time to go home and take a shower. I would definitely keep any new purse stocked with these cruelty-free products!!

In a fun bag like one of these, one must have some equally fun lipcolors. I love Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Lip Tars (100% vegan and cruelty-free, of course), especially in the shade Anime!

  • Ray R. says:

You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in god. If there is no god, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent god, he will judge you on your merits and not just on whether or not you believed in him

  • Christina G says:

I love these bags amazing! I use organic and animal friendly makeup i don’t carry anything like a leather wallet all my stuff is animal friendly!

  • Tara says:

The most important thing I carry in my purse is my wallet which is definitely not made of leather. There are so many alternatives like fabric, hemp, plastic, etc. No one needs the skin of a dead animal anymore!

  • esther says:

that would look great on my stroller!

  • Jessica says:

Those bags are so cute! I use the eco make up tools, bare minerals, and Burts Bees mostly. Then again I have a lot of stuff in my purse. (:

  • thanh says:

    Those bags are fantastic!
I would put some fantastic cruelty free makeup: Almay’s liquid eyeliner, Bobbi Brown’s concealer, Burt’s Bees lipbalm, and ELF eyeshadow. I love using cruelty-free products, especially because animals should NEVER be tested on. That is unreasonable and wrong. Animals don’t even wear makeup and they are nothing like humans!

  • Lea says:

The first time I stopped to think about what’s really into my makeup is when I realized I was licking my lips very often in a day. I realized then I was actually almost eating it. Then I discovered the vegan lip balm from Lush, and it’s always in my bag since then!

  • Diane says:

What woman doesn’t love a new purse ? These are all great .

  • Sarah says:

Seeing how I’m in college, big bags are my taste because I can carry everything I need to class. I’d carry my “Sasquatch” notebooks and folders (made of 100% recycled paper), my laptop, some of my PETA stickers and pamphlets, and my makeup– ALMAY intense i-color for blues, HARD CANDY “Lash Tinsel” glitter mascara in Disco Ball(sold at Walmart and even says animal friendly on the label!), HARD CANDY Split Personality eye shadow duo in purple and silver, Hard Candy “Walk the Line” liquid eyeliner in Sugar Plum, and Urban Decay Eyeshadow in UZI. As you can tell I LOVE purple, silver, and glittery. haha And I wish they made makeup for gray eyes!
