Back-to-School in the Bag, Freebies to Nab!

The following is a guest post by PETA staffer Royale.

It’s August, and you know what that means—back to school! As far back as I can remember, I’ve always loved this month for that very reason. Not that I loved going back to school, but the shopping that commences just before one does so is, well, worth submitting to the semesters that follow. Although I graduated from college five years ago, I still go “back-to-school shopping”—hey, it’s nostalgic, and I’m practicing for when I have children of my own. So whether you’re heading back to the classroom or just want to honor tradition (hehe), you’re going to need a bag to carry you through until spring.

Some of you might be surprised to learn that millions of animals are slaughtered each year and turned into shoes, handbags, belts, and other accessories. With tons of fashionable and cruelty-free alternatives available, it doesn’t take a genius to realize that killing animals just ain’t smart. So don’t fail your animal friends this fall—go faux for all your back-to-school fashions.

Studious or studious, I’ve got just the satchels you’ve been searching for. Plus, two lucky winners have a chance to win my fabulous Navoh picks (this teacher’s playing favorites: the Christopher and Chambers) by leaving a comment below! Tell me what cruelty-free products you’d carry in your new bag—if there’s one thing that I like as much as accessories, it’s makeup!

  • Sarahy says:

Well since I’ve just recently found out about what goes behind testing and the meat I used to eat or theshoes I used to wear.
I decided to go Cruelty-free so when I go to school I keep it natural, I just recently burned my leather shoes(i feel ashamed I even had them in the first place)
so I take my convers and I always take fruit to snack 🙂

  • Mrs. Ida Chavez says:

Well, I’ve never commented on your website before but It’s Awesome!!! Let’s see, I’d probably offer it to my 14 year old/Vegan daughter. She’d keep her fabulous accesories in there like her colorful wallet with lots of pictures of her “sister Lulu(family dog)”, sun-glasses,housekeys,hat (just in case because she refuses to use hair products..a staple in her wardrobe), hairbrush, and her planner, pen and whatever book she happens to be reading(homeschooled). She doesn’t wear makeup, doesn’t see the point in it!She’d probably also have a snack like raisins, nuts, popcorn.I’d love for her to have one of these wonderful bags…Thanks for considering us…

  • Paige says:

As a busy single mom who works full-time, I find it to be a real treat when I finagle a few “extra” minutes for myself amidst the chaos of my day. If I were to win one of these bags you could be sure I’d fill it with healthy snacks, water, and yoga cards – my essential tools for a quick fix throughout the day 🙂

  • Shaina says:

Personally I don’t carry purses myself I’m more of a wallet gal. If I won one of these beautiful purses I would give it to my mother. My mom is the most kind and compassionate person I know when it comes to all animals. I am a huge animal lover and support any animal rights cause that I can on PETA. Everything I was taught about concerning animals I’ve learned from my mom. All the make-up products and lotions that she keeps in her purse are all cruelty-free. Thank you very much PETA for all you do for animals everywhere!:)

  • Paula Chihill says:

    Hi Kelly,

When I searched I saw results for several different comments by “Kelly” (most likely different people) on this thread of comments. Can you try submitting it again?

  • Matei Monica ( Jitaru ) says:

    Let me be honest.
I want one of the bags to try it, to take it with other clothes …to make connexions. I think is great!
Just a step ahead to know.
    All the best.

  • paul bell says:

I am a vegan and have been for 20 years. I applaud all people that have made the transition to an animal free diet. I believe that when all of the people go veg and vegan there will be no more war and world destruction. Yes I would love one of those bags to carry my cruelty free literature and food around.

  • Kelsey Smyth says:

I would carry my Bare Escentuals make up including my mascara and array of eyeshadows and eyeliner, all in an animal cruelty free bag on the inside! I would carry my shopping guide and my companies guide that PETA generously sent me (thanks again) my wallet and any extra things I might need! Honestly I think the Let Them Eat Cake Bag is the cutest, but does it really matter which one looks best when they are all cruelty free, right?! I think so! Thanks to all the great Animal Rights and animal testing free companies out there! You rock!

    Thanks for the opportunity!

    -Kelsey- :]

  • AliceCheng says:

I’d keep my wallet. Maybe some snacks. Definitely my chapstick.

  • Carol Reins says:

Faux is Fabulous…My Furries, My Reptiles and My Feathered Friends agree…When I walk the town I’ll bring a treat. For every animal I meet, My Purse will hold all that’s cruelty free. For every animal that’s lost, I’ll carry food whatever the cost. And a lipgloss for me!
