Pleather-In Leather-Out
Want to look like your favorite box-office beauties and top melodymakers?
Just pleather yourself!

PETA’s newest Web site, PleatherYourself.com, shows pleather is in. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Courteney Cox Arquette, Britney Spears and Alicia Silverstone are just a few of the top celebs who are puttin’ on the pleather. When a fan tried to give Prince a leather coat during a recent concert in Washington, D.C., the vegan musician replied, “Please do not kill a cow so I can wear a coat!” Remember: When you buy leather, animals pay—with their lives. Production lines move so fast that slaughterhouse employees routinely kill, skin and dismember fully conscious animals. In India, the source of much of the leather sold in the West, cattle are often forced to march for hundreds of miles to slaughterhouses without food or water. Or they’re crammed together so tightly in trucks that many die of suffocation.
