The world is so unfair and cruel. The most helpless creatures with no voice or choice have to be subjected to such things. If we as a human race weren't so selfish, maybe the world would be a tad less cruel. Sickening.

For those of you who think we should use human subjects, why dont you be the first to volunteer? How would you like to live in a world where you can't tell whether or not the product you buy from the store could kill you or not? For God's sakes, nature is not as rosey as they show on TV anyways, half of the animals they use would bite your face off at any chance they could get. If you look at the monkey testing video on the peta website when the monkeys are looking at the cameras with their mouths open. thats not them saying "o, no help me." its them saying "step a little closer and ill eat you." plz make sure wat you say is accurate before you press 'submit'

You guys don't understand, animal testing has a great impact in the science and medical field. I myself am an animal lover and an aspiring vet student. I assure you the majority of the people who posted comments on this article and their pets would not be alive today if it were not for animal testing. Trust me I have been to an animal testing facility and they are truly doing wonderful things. I assure you that these animals could not be your pets because they are specially bred in order that their bodies mimic specific human processes. Doctors use some of these animals to practice surgery so that they can do their best when they perform the surgery on people. They force animals to ingest common house hold products so that you can know what to do when your son or daughter accidentally ingests these chemicals. Multiple very experienced veterinarians are at these facilities to make sure the animals are treated humanely. I saw once poster that said “which would you rather see live” and it had a picture of a rat and a little girl. Which would you rather see live?

To DREWMAN: Are you seriously using more, and unrelated mistakes to justify testing on animals?!? If so, one, you don't know how to write to make a point, and two, those who can somehow muddle through your word salad are not impressed. I believe someone suggested testing on VOLUNTEERS, including criminals. Or testing on death row criminals who have committed such heinous crimes that it is justifiable. Personally, I think we should test on people who commit crimes against helpless animals! Furthermore, we do not care if you lose faith in humanity. If you ever become a member of the human race, you'll understand why. You say it's much too hard for us to "use reasoning and intellect to understand the world..." Maybe you'd like to do some research into the levels of education most of the people working at and for PETA have acheived. I personally have a degree in Physics. And I'm really sick of you people who think only the brainiacs of the world can have any compassion for helpless animals who suffer needlessly at the hands of monsters like you. I am also a professional writer. And your rhetoric makes absolutely no sense. It doesn't do anything at all except try to insult people. Starving children in third world countries and your alleged "fact" that people do far more harm to one another than to lab animals has nothing whatsoever to do with the subject of this thread. By your twisted "logic" or "reasoning" as you put it, we do more harm to each other and children are starving to death in third world countries, therefore it's okay to abuse animals. By my standards of ability to use logic and reasoning, you sir are a moron. Humanity will not miss your "faith."

this is crazy, animal testing is so pointless, we have so many alternatives, so why would we test on something as helpless as a monkey or a rat? what did they do to deserve this? its ridiculous. its pointless i cant even look at these pictures and videos without crying, i wish there was something i could do to help these poor dears get the love the need and deserve!!! xoxo to all the mistreated animals out there! i love you babies!

I would rather humans be used for experiments than animals. Criminal, volunteers, whatever, I don't care, as long as they stop testing on animals. Animals, to me, are better than humans because they only do what they are made to do, they do what comes natural to them. The world would be better off without humans.

@animalsci2011, if you think we need animal testing, test the products on your own animal that you love and adore at home! I am appalled at your post. Its millions of people against you, and the people who work in the labs. Which I think is in the thousandths. Millions of people are against this torture and useless science. Yes humans will win. They will win in closing down animal testing laboratories for good,and giving animals rights! I'm with the millions,fighting to end this inhumane abuse. We will prevail again. Ok, I may cop some flak here...I eat animals sometimes...but only when I know they have been killed humanely. I have some friends on farms whose meat I eat, but I know for a FACT these animals have been killed instantly with a single bullet. I am totally for eating met, BUT COMPLETLY AGAINST ANIMAL ABUSE!!!!! That is why I am a member of this site. I will only eat meat if I know it has had a good life in an open paddock and a natural environment and has NOT been subjected to ANY abuse whilst being killed. That's not cool at all! (and I don't eat very much meat be ause I can not always varify this) please don't hate!

I'm totally on-board (and have been for at least 20 years) about using maximum security criminals to be used in lieu of animals. I believe this continues because Washington and other national worldwide capitols have weak human tax-payers who allow for it. There are perfectly good models that can and have been used for at least 20 years in laboratory experiments that DO NOT involve animal victims. And as far as finding cures for medicines, just talk to a native indian naturopathic and orthodox doctor of medicine Michael Farley. He'll espouse traditions of all human societies about natural medicines that were NEVER tested on animals, yet successfully used to treat humans. I'm proud and healthy to be a vegan who doesn't even need a pill for a head-ache. I stopped having headaches 10 years ago when I became vegan.
