PETA has been on the road searching for the best vegan food on wheels. There are plenty of delicious options to choose from nationwide, but we’ve narrowed this list down to our top five for 2023. These are just a few of the hundreds of trucks that are serving food that’s friendly to animals, meaning they don’t serve anything that harms cows, chickens, pigs, fish, or any other animal! Here they are:

Slutty Vegan

Multiple locations

Vegan entrepreneur Pinky Cole has opened Slutty Vegan locations in multiple cities, but it all started with a food truck. Now, the truck can be found traveling around the country and even at PETA events like our Food Justice Campaign, which Cole helped kick off. Go classic with the Fussy Hussy (a cow-friendly patty topped with vegan cheese, pickles, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun) or switch it up with the Heaux Boy (a take on a po’ boy with New Orleans–style vegan shrimp). All offerings come with perfectly seasoned Slut Fries.

Tabay’s Mindful Kitchen

Orange County, California

Tabay Atkins is a passionate teenage animal activist bringing compassionate eats to his community through his vegan food truck. His work even earned him a “Hero to Animals” Award from PETA! Burgers are a specialty here, including The Big Stac, with two quarter-pound beefless patties, and the Maui Burger, served with grilled pineapple and teriyaki sauce. There are also several Persian-inspired offerings, chik’n sandwiches, fish-free fare, and more—so there’s something for everyone, no matter what you’re craving.

My V Spot

Jacksonville, Florida

After a devastating fire in 2021 left owner Anna Coleman severely injured and her truck damaged, My V Spot reopened in March 2023 with the support of the Jacksonville community. Coleman is now serving up classic comfort favorites that are kind to animals. Her truck is known for its creamy and slightly spicy Slappin Mac, along with fusion dishes like the Indian-inspired Coconut Butter Cauliflower. Find My V Spot at the Jacksonville Farmers Market on Sundays, and check the calendar for other locations.

Gmonkey

Hartford, Connecticut

Gmonkey serves wildly popular burgers, loaded fries, bowls, and more. The Feisty Monkey Bowl flies off the menu: It’s a dish of soba noodles with a spicy peanut cilantro sauce, veggies, and a cashew Parmesan “dust.” This truck also serves farmers markets and caters weddings and other special occasions.

Shimmy Shack

South Lyon, Michigan

Like a ’50s diner on wheels, Shimmy Shack rolls with “Veg-American” food, serving classics such as burgers, fries, shakes, chili, nachos, and cookies. Its grub is also gluten-free. Truck-grilled burgers include black bean, falafel, and lentil. The Elvis shake comes with chocolate, banana, and peanut butter, the King’s fave. Shimmy’s goal is to franchise trucks around the U.S. and “to spread the shimmy love.”

Whether you’re a seasoned vegan or making the transition, be sure to visit these food trucks for delicious options while eating on the go. If none of them are near you, don’t despair! We can help you find nearby vegan food no matter where you live:
