Metta World Peace Says, ‘ALWAYS Report Animal Abuse’

See Los Angeles Lakers power forward Metta World Peace take a stand for abused animals! He first teamed up with PETA to encourage fans to spay and neuter their companion animals, and now he is starring in a heartwarming ad with a very important message: If you witness or suspect animal abuse, always report it. The powerful ad was shot by celebrity photographer Robert Sebree in Los Angeles.

See Metta World Peace’s exclusive interview with PETA and learn more about how you can be a responsible animal guardian and help end animal abuse.

Cruelty to animals takes many forms, including keeping dogs chained up outside without adequate food, water, or shelter; failing to provide hurt or sick animals with veterinary care; leaving dogs in hot cars on warm days; and much, much more. If you ever see or suspect that an animal is being neglected or abused, call your local authorities immediately or contact PETA for assistance. For animals in danger, one phone call can be the difference between life and perhaps a horrible death.

Campaign co-stars Stella and Athena are rescued dogs with happy endings. Athena’s human companion found her abandoned on the side of the road and scooped her up. Athena now lives a healthy, happy life indoors, where she is given lots of love and affection. Stella was just a pup when she was found wandering around a Los Angeles apartment building. Luckily, a vigilant citizen found and rescued her from the dangerous streets. Stella’s “guardian angel” cleaned her up and tried to find a home for her, but she fell in love and gave Stella a forever home instead. Now they are teaming up with Metta World Peace and PETA to help other animals in need.

Another victory against animal abuse was achieved recently when a call to PETA from a compassionate neighbor saved the life of Noel, a lonely “backyard dog” left outdoors to suffer. Noel was tethered to the trunk of a thorny bush, unable to move more than 10 inches or reach the few pieces of dry dog kibble scattered on the ground. She had no access to shelter or water and was emaciated to the point that her ribs and hip bones jutted out from under her skin. PETA rescued Noel and worked with law-enforcement authorities to prosecute her former guardian for attempted cruelty to animals. Now the woman who had neglected Noel is forever banned from owning animals! And it wouldn’t have happened had no one called PETA to report Noel’s situation.
