Hilaria Baldwin Launches Global Cruelty-Free Shopping Guide

Have you ever wondered if the companies that you buy beauty and household products from test those products on animals? As the cosmetics industry grows ever more global, some companies have chosen to sell their products in places that require animal testing, such as China—even though these tests are illegal in the European Union and are rarely conducted in the U.S. This can get complicated, but to make things easier, Hilaria Baldwin—entrepreneur, yoga instructor, and wife of actor Alec Baldwin—is teaming up with PETA to launch its first-ever global cruelty-free cosmetics shopping guide, Beauty Without Bunnies.

Hilaria, whose cover photo was shot by celebrity and fashion photographer Gabrielle Revere, is committed to keeping cruelty out of her beauty routine and urges everyone to get to know the products that they use every day. Just in time for holiday shopping, this guide will help you choose cosmetics and household products manufactured by companies that refuse to poison and kill animals in pointless product tests. All companies that are included on PETA’s cruelty-free list have signed PETA’s statement of assurance or provided a statement verifying that neither they nor their ingredients suppliers conduct, commission, or pay for any animal tests on ingredients, formulations, or finished products anywhere in the world. Hilaria unveiled the global guide at The Body Shop in New York City.

Rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other animals are force-fed products or endure the pain of having chemicals applied to their sensitive eyes and skin––even though the results of animal tests are unreliable and not applicable to humans. The best way to stop companies from using animals is to refuse to purchase their products and let them know that you won’t buy their products as long as they support tests on animals.
