Each year, the Canadian government allows sealers to beat and skin hundreds of thousands of seals. Baby seals, some merely weeks old, have their skulls smashed in or are shot for their fur. Many of these gentle animals may not even have eaten their first solid meals or taken their first swim before they are slaughtered.
PETA and compassionate people worldwide—including countless Canadian citizens and a long list of celebrities, such as Sarah McLachlan, and professional athletes—are calling for a permanent end to this cruel and needless massacre.
The European Union's ban on seal products and the U.S. Senate's resolution to end the seal slaughter are major steps in the right direction, but there is still much more to do in order to stop the slaughter forever. See all the famous faces who are speaking up for seals in our "Save the Seals" ad series, and then join our campaign to end the slaughter forever.
'PROUD CANADIAN' well i wouldnt be so proud, lyin to everyone on here telling us you sick minded creatures do not make the baby seals suffer. I just read a full documentation an observer wrote, she saw one of your murderers drag a baby seal along the ice and beat it 13 times, then when it wa still alive he cut it apart while it was still blinking its beautiful innocent eyes. DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE CANADIANS WHO BACK THE SEAL HUNT THEY WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING THE SEALS ARE SKINNED ALIVE AND THE SICK CREATURES WHO DONIT DO NOT CHECK FOR BLINKING EYES BEFORE DOING SO. THESE ARE BABIES!! BACK THESE CAMPAIGNS TO END THIS!!
