15 Reasons Not to Chain Dogs

There is a difference in chaining dogs and neglecting them. I've had a Pitbull. Happiest dog ever!! & We had him chained in the back yard. You guys are idiots.

Seeing a dog on the end of a chain is heart breaking. I am not talking about dogs that are chained that have loving owners that let them off the chain some and give them love and attention. It is the dog owners that neglect their dogs they are starving for companionship, food, water, play time. I bet all of you dog owners that neglect your dogs and never, ever, let them off a chain like to kick canes away from little old ladys also. How can someone treat any living creature like this.

Oh My God, it is obvious these poor souls are chained AND neglected! Look at their shape, their environment, their sad look, their leashes! We can notice when a human being is sad and in pain, and you can see these feelings in these dogs eyes as well!!! Why argue, while all living beings deserve respect, freedom and love???

Why are you people arguing on whether a dog should be chained or not...It's obvious they shouldn't be. Animals are not mean to be chained and restricted. I live in the city so we don't have much of a yard space compared to suburban areas or out in the country. But my dog is not chained..we have a fence which prevents him from getting out. My dog is also PROPERLY trained so i don't have a problem with him wanting to hurt someone or even destroying our property. He has never once ruined our furniture or had any "accidents" in our house.If you plan on having a dog, why not just build a nice sturdy fence and let the dog roam around as it pleases?

Are you kidding me? Your're actually saying these dogs dont look uncomfortable at all and there is a difference between chaining and neglect? Obviously there is something wrong with the way you percieve things because these dogs look almost emaciated and some of them look dirty like they havn't been cared for in days if not weeks. And there is no difference between chaining and neglecting a dog. They are both cruel and from what it looks like they havn't had any compassion either. So please, take a closer look at these pictures and really analyze them because hearing these things are hurtful and that's why things like this don't change because people over look them.

for starters people, dogs can't smile, they literally don't have the facial bones that would allow them to do so. And just because they are looking up at a camera doesnt mean they're sad. Half of these dogs don't look uncomfortable at all, but are photographed so they look depressed. Also, to all people who says things such as "people who do this should be killed" or "we should do experiments on prisoners instead of dogs", statements like that are directly opposed to PETA's statement that everyone has a right to life. Why should some people deserve to die and animals not? Animals kill just as much as humans do, and chimpanzee's will literally rip the skin off unsuspecting enemies. Animals are just as cruel and violent as people.

Give me a break. There is a difference between chaining your dog and neglecting it. There are outside dogs and there are inside dogs. Some dogs just belong outside...before we humans domesticated them(turned them against their nature ) I don't think they would have been found in warm cozy houses with a bowl with their name on it. They did their best to survive in the wild and in their environments. I have a beagle. I begged my parents to let her come inside. But they wouldn't have it. So she is outside on a chain in a nice sized pin. We live in a pretty rural area but there's a major road right in front of us...we have lost two dogs to that road. My ten year old Rott and my beagles five month old brother. So we chain her. So a few times a week we would let her off the hook and pretty much let her go where the heck she pleased. She'd chase the chickens, annoy the goats(oh wait! is that animal abuse to the chickens and goats?!! whoops!) But She'd usually run in the woods because beagles are typically hunting dogs. It's in her blood. She could be gone for hours but she ALWAYS came back, sitting on our doorstep tail wagging. So obviously we were doing something right. When my parents weren't home I'd bring my dog into the house. She'd nose around a bit, we'd cuddle but eventually she'd get bored. We let her outside and she's happy. Doc says she's the sweetest, HEALTHIEST, happiest dog there is. and guess what, she's chained majority of the week. You Guys need to be real. Some people love animals but their circumstances are different. Does that mean people who can't have inside dogs shouldn't have pets. Then you guys would have more animals on the streets and we'd all have to here you complain about that too.

Dogs are pack animals who crave the company of other dogs or their guardians. Chaining a dog is the cruelest form of punishment. Chained dogs feel lonely, and are usually hungry, thirsty, have external and internal parasites, and lack veterinary care. Unspayed females are impregnated by roaming males, compounding the problem of overpopulation. A progressive society bans the chaining of dogs, that is why there are ban on chains ordinances spreading across the county very quickly. Why get a dog just to abandon it at the end of a chain? Makes no sense. A dog is a living, feeling being full of love and only wanting to love and have fun. Life at the end of a chain is no life. Ban dog chaining. It is heartbreaking to see the size and weight of some of these chaains! Poor dogs. And a little puppy chained. Heartbreaking. What kind of heartless people do this to an innocent dog.

Well I agree and disagree.. I disagree Haveing your dog live life on a chain and never come off. But I have 2 dogs my Self ( Pitbulls) I love them to death they are more inside dogs than any thing.. But there are times I put my Male dog on a chain some times when I leave for a little bit threw the day because he likes to tear out the trash and get into the litter box and Jumps the dang fence one one side because its a cahain lenghth but we will be fixing it soon... its only for an hour or 2 but you can bet there is plenty of food and water but if its too hot or cold well he stays inside and I will clean the mess if he makes one. But you can bet they dont live their lifes on it.. If its hot they are in side with me if its cold they are inside with me.. They sleep at the foot of my bed.. My dogs dont know what its like to sleep over night out side. They are like my babies. They even shake, roll over sit up pretty and fetch.. and these are pitbulls.. But I have to chain up my male if I leave because in my town if he gets out they will shot him on the spot because of his breed. Even though he is harmless. Its not fare but its the rep that pits have gotton. and I noticed alot of these picture of dogs were pit bulls. Its so sad. I beleive a runner is better.. But a dog that lives his life on a chain every day no walks no ineractment with people, or food or water, nothing well that is wrong and pathetic.. If you dont want the responsibility of the dog dont get one.. And you know its not just dogs, its cats birds, Horses.. All kinds of animals are being mistreated every day!! But all I have to say is I love my dogs!!!!!!!!!!

It's STILL a very sad situation!It STILL breaks my heart!I STILL LOVE animals and they STILL deserve ALOT of love!
