Calves used for veal. Often, calves used for veal are chained in tiny stalls (as depicted in the pictures above), fed a nutrient-deficient liquid diet that results in chronic diarrhea, and kept in near-total darkness twenty-four hours a day. These calves suffer throughout their lives.
