PETA's Spring Auction for Delhi

Every purchase that you make from the following selection of auction items will help provide care for Delhi, a 57-year-old elephant who was stolen from her wild home in India and sentenced to a miserable life of confinement and beatings.

For the last 30 years, Delhi has been with Hawthorn Corporation—a company that provides elephants to circuses. After receiving PETA’s photos and videos, which documented Hawthorn’s neglectful treatment of Delhi, the U.S. Department of Agriculture launched an investigation and filed charges against the company for federal Animal Welfare Act violations.

Delhi suffers from osteomyelitis—a painful bone disease that is the most common cause of death among captive elephants. Last November, authorities seized this beautiful elephant because she was in imminent danger from lack of veterinary care. Fortunately, at Delhi’s new home at The Elephant Sanctuary, her health has greatly improved.

Although she will require special medical care for the rest of her life, Delhi’s spirits climb higher each day. She now enjoys leisurely days grazing in the sun, playing with toys, and napping on a shady hillside.

The proceeds from your purchases will go directly toward keeping Delhi as pain-free and happy as possible. Thank you for helping to give Delhi the peace and enjoyment that she deserves during her remaining years.
