Postcards From the Edge

Monday, October 28, 2002

Greetings from Toronto

While passing out vegetarian starter kits downtown at Yonge and Bloor, we met some really colorful characters—several of whom have already made the switch to meat-free living.

We had to briefly switch gears to become fashion police when we spotted a woman wearing a fur-trimmed coat. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it since there’s no excuse for wearing fur.

Also, we finally got to try the McVeggie Burger, McDonald’s new veggie burger. Served on a vegan whole wheat bun, the vegan burger is covered with vegan toppings. The burger patty is made by Yves Veggie Cuisine. Currently, this sandwich is only available in Canada, but we are keeping our fingers crossed. Alas, we skipped the fries since they are coated with beef fat.
