PETA STOPS TRAFFIC WITH “REALITY TV”

Reality TV Truck: Hell on Wheels

Udder cruelty.Paul McCartney once said that if slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian. Since most people will never visit a slaughterhouse, PETA has decided to bring the slaughterhouse to them, with its double-sided, big-screen Reality TV truck, which is touring the country, making stops at pedestrian hot spots.

“Every year, we get hundreds of letters and e-mail messages from people stating that it was PETA’s videos that finally made them stop eating animals or wearing fur,” said Tracy Reiman, PETA’s vice president of campaigns. “The Reality TV truck makes our footage accessible to millions of people who don’t realize what the consequences of their daily choices are.”

Elephant being beaten with a bullhook. But be forewarned: Watching PETA’s videos of animal mistreatment isn’t easy. “It’s not pleasant. That’s the point. Our footage should be required viewing for anyone reaching for a hamburger, buying a leather coat, or going to a circus with animal performances,” she says.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then PETA’s heart-wrenching, behind-the-scenes video footage of animals being skinned alive in slaughterhouses, cows left to die of thirst on factory farms, and elephants being beaten to a pulp behind the big top can save that many animals’ lives countless times over.
