Richard Pryor Fights Cruel Charities
Richard Pryor is at the helm of PETA's new campaign targeting health charities that still fund experiments on animals. The legendary comedian, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, is adamantly opposed to inflicting pain and death on animals in old-fashioned medical studies.

"Make sure the check you write to a charity doesn't pay for cruel experiments on animals," warns Pryor from the cover of the publication. "Your donation should help end suffering—not cause it."

PETA's new booklet lists charities such as Easter Seals and the National Children's Cancer Society that do not spend a penny of donors' money on animal studies and those that still do, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

New Charities Hotline: 1-866-TEST-KIND

Richard Pryor's partner, Jennifer Lee has joined the campaign by recording PETA's new charities hotline message.

"Helping Richard live with multiple sclerosis has been challenging, rewarding, and enlightening," Lee tells callers. "One thing I discovered early on is that while some charities ask for money to help people with diseases, they actually spend your dollars on horrible experiments on dogs, rabbits, primates, and other animals."
