The average American kid eats about five hamburgers a week. Lots of burgers contain bits of spinal cord and nerve tissue, blood, bone marrow, and other unsavory surprises. Want fries with that?

To save money, fast-food farmers feed their animals junk like chicken manure, dead cats and dogs from pounds (their bodies are sent to “rendering” plants), and fat from restaurant grease traps.

Before you bite into that McNugget, remember that poultry slaughterhouses are so disgusting that one former U.S. Department of Agriculture scientist says the “final product is no different than if you stuck it in the toilet and ate it.” Yuck!

McDonald’s is the largest purchaser of beef and the second largest purchaser of poultry in the world. That’s a lot of animals, who make a lot of manure. The poop produced by animals on U.S. factory farms in one year would fill 6.7 million train boxcars–enough to circle the Earth 12 times!

In the “McLibel” trial, the judge ruled that some “of the chickens ... used to produce [McDonald’s] food are still fully conscious when they have their throats cut. This is a cruel practice.” Conditions in U.S. slaughterhouses are cruel, too. Representative George E. Brown says, "Slaughter workers admit to routinely strangling, beating, scalding, skinning, and dismembering conscious animals."

Don’t turn your lunch bag into a barf bag by filling it up with stomach-turning animal foods. Go vegan today!
