Constance Marie Says, “Curb Cat and Dog Overpopulation!”

Turn on your television and chances are you’ll see Constance Marie starring in some of today’s most popular shows—as Angie on ABC’s sit-com The George Lopez Show and as Nina on the PBS drama American Family.

But despite her busy schedule, Constance Marie was delighted to appear in PETA’s new Spanish-language advertisement that urges people to spay and neuter their companion animals to help curb the cat and dog overpopulation crisis. The eyebrow-raising ad notes that animals can’t use condoms so it’s up to their human guardians to ensure that they don’t get pregnant.

What Are You Waiting for? The Time to Spay and Neuter Is Now.
Have you been putting off spaying your Sophie because she’s an “inside” dog? Is there an unneutered cat hanging around the back porch? Does your neighbor have an unaltered dog chained up in the yard? Is your coworker giving away a litter of kittens?

Get those animals neutered right away! It’s the nicest thing you can do for them. Spaying not only reduces the stress and discomfort that females endure during heat periods, it also eliminates the risk of uterine cancer and greatly reduces the chances of getting mammary cancer. Neutering makes males far less likely to roam or fight and helps prevent testicular cancer.

One Spay Saves Many Lives
By preventing animals from being born and subsequently abandoned or given away to irresponsible people, you prevent animals from being hit by cars, attacked by other animals or cruel people, stolen by laboratory dealers, used as “bait” by dogfighters, or simply stuck outside to die of starvation, exposure, or neglect.

Be a Part of the Solution—and Win 20 Bucks!
Pick up the phone and dial 1-888-872-9773 or e-mail SylviaR@peta.org, and you’ll be entered to win a 20-dollar voucher toward the cost of sterilizing your companion animal. Or if friends or neighbors need a push to spay or neuter, enter them. (Fifty U.S. residents will win.)

Please encourage everyone you know to get their animals neutered. Be persistent. If they make excuses, arrange to have the animals altered yourself if you can.
