"Few are as colorful or effective for its size as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals."

The funds that PETA receives from workplace contributions do make a difference-a huge difference! If you are a federal or state government employee, if you participate in a United Way campaign, or if your company conducts its own giving campaign, then designating PETA to receive your workplace contributions is another important way that you can help animals.

When we were contacted by a woman who had purchased two starving, emaciated horses from a sham horse "rescuer," we urged officials to investigate and press charges The "rescuer" was a long-time horse hoarder in Lincoln County, Washington, who had eluded prosecution in previous jurisdictions. One of the horses was in pitiful condition and had to be euthanized. The other miraculously survived, was lovingly rehabilitated, and is now doing fine. The hoarder was convicted of cruelty to animals, paid stiff fines, and is barred from ever breeding horses again.
When a couple discovered a baby beaver whimpering by their pond, they immediately phoned PETA. Puff's family had been shot and killed as they fled their burning lodge, which a cruel farmer had set afire. PETA's wildlife biologist traveled eight hours to retrieve the orphan and take her to temporary quarters at the home of a wildlife rehabilitator.
When we tipped off officials in Toms River, New Jersey, to a dogfighting ring, the participants were arrested, and the town issued a news release saying, "Special recognition is also due PETA. It was their information together with law enforcement awareness which resulted in the arrest of these individuals."
The above stories are just a sampling of many happy endings that have occurred, thanks in part to the wonderful support of our friends who have remembered PETA through their workplace campaigns. By including PETA as one of your gift designees, you are directly responsible for our being able not only to save animals like Puff, but to alert authorities to cruel, unlawful acts and pressure for the prosecution of the individuals committing those acts to the fullest extent of the law.
Workplace gifts provide vital support for PETA's unique, life-saving work. And they are very simple and convenient to make.
If you are a federal employee, you can participate in the annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), which runs from September 1 through December 15. PETA can be easily located in the Animal Charities of America (ACA) section in your CFC materials.
If you are a state government employee, you may be able to select PETA in your annual government-employee campaign. PETA can be selected by state government employees in the following states: California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
If you participate in a United Way giving campaign that allows donor
designations, you may be able to select PETA as the beneficiary
of your United Way gifts. If PETA is not listed as a member agency,
please contact the campaign coordinator to see if you can write
in PETA to be considered for your gift. If you are able to write
PETA in as your choice, please use our complete, spelled-out name
(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and provide the following
information: PETA’s address (501 Front St., Norfolk, VA 23510)
and federal tax-identification number (52-1218336). As procedures
do vary with each local or regional campaign, please verify that
you have completed your designation correctly.
If you are an employee of a company that conducts its own employee
workplace-giving fund drive, you may be able to double or even triple
the impact of your gift. In order to encourage charitable giving,
the companies will often "match" your gift-thereby doubling your
gift for animals. Some will even "double-match" your donations to
triple the impact of your original donation. Please check with the
human resources director of your company to make sure that PETA
is included in your company's campaign. If PETA is not, please request
an application for PETA or call us at the number below so that we
can apply to be included in your campaign.
Please go to PETA's Victory Pages for more stories that will inspire you to start or continue giving through your workplace in support of PETA's work for animals. And if you have any questions, please contact Tim Enstice at 757-962-8213, or at TimE@petaf.org.
Again, thank you for your support!
