Can we talk aboutwhat you’re eating for Passover? Joan Rivers has a suggestion: faux pork!
Just in time for the Seder supper, the Queen of the Red Carpet, QVC mogul, and legendary comedian has recorded a new message for PETA’s vegetarian hotline, 1-888-VEG-FOOD, extolling the virtues of passing over the pork and going with
the faux.
Says Rivers, “This year, you can pig out at Passoveryou can put some pork on your fork, and it’s kosher! I’m not talking about eating a dead pigI’m talking about fakin’ bacon, pseudo-sausage, pigless pork chops, and the wave of wonderful new mock meats in supermarkets everywhere.”
She continues, “Most faux pork is certified kosher (no kidding). And besides, eating kosher faux pork lets you pig out without porking up.”
Callers to the hotline are asked to leave their name and address, and PETA will send them a free “Passover the Pork” pack that contains information on where to buy faux pork and other mock meats, as well as coupons and recipe ideas.
Delicious faux pork and other fake meat products that are certified kosher can be found in your grocer’s health-food or refrigerated-food sections, as well as at many Wal-Mart Supercenter stores. Follow these links to a couple of PETA’s favorite purveyors of faux pork:
