‘Win It’ Wednesday: Vegan Valentine’s Chocolate

Written by PETA | January 27, 2010

Comic Ricky Gervais roots for the bulls. Actor Marissa Lewis dreams of a world free of cages and chains. Well, one of my many “perfect world wishes” is that every day could be Valentine’s Day. Not only could I indulge daily in delectable vegan chocolates like those from Harbor Candy, which happen to be this week’s “Win It” Wednesday prizes …

Chocolate

… I also believe that people might become more loving and kinder to everyone around them, including their companion animals. All dogs would be allowed to stop and sniff on leisurely strolls instead of being yelled at and yanked along on hasty morning marches. Cats could enjoy their naps on newspapers, along with some gentle scratches from their human caretakers, instead of being shooed away. I’m confident that my wish would benefit not just my own addiction to chocolate but also the lives of countless otherwise beleaguered and bored companion animals.

So tell us, what’s your “perfect world wish” for animals? If you can’t narrow it down to one, enter as often as you’d like. Make us snort with laughter or choke back tears and you might win one of two boxes of Harbor Candy chocolates. We’ve got a deluxe box of chocolates for the grand-prize winner and a sampler box for the runner-up. If you win, feel free to share them with your sweetheart, but if you keep ‘em for yourself, we won’t tell.

The contest ends on February 3, 2010, and we’ll pick the winners on February 5, 2010. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you’re agreeing to both by commenting. Good luck!

My one wish is for EVERYONE every single Animal lover out there to use this day Valentines Day to be an “Animals Sweetheart”. I hope that everyone can find a way to make the lives of animals a little better. Here some examples 1 Your girlfriend has been hinting for a pet Well instead of supporting the exploitation of breeding farms Adopt a furry friend from the APL You are saving an animal and your girlfriend will love you for your compassion 2 Your boyfriend just does not want to “take the plunge” into becoming a vegan…dont dump him not yet atleast On Valentines Day make him a romantic 100 vegan meal Im thinking… Fettuccine NoFredo with Broccoli and Sauted Mushrooms and for dessert my personal favorite Vegan dark forest chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce Dim the lights and bow chicka wow…ok you get the picture He’ll be Vegan by the next day! Use this day to get some press for teh sake of Animalsdress up like Cupid passing out PETA’s fabuluos flyers. I would be honored if you chose me as the winner for “win it” wednesday As a full on chocoholic I’d love to try some and pass them out to friends. But most importantly I just wanted to share a few of my ideas about how I care about animals. I have dedicated my days and nights to giving a voice to thoes who dont have any. Their pain and cries are real and they value their children families..and their LIVES just as much as we dothank you PETA for all of your work.

My perfect world wish is that animals would be treated humanly. That none of them would have to suffer a life in a cage or on a chain. That the horses that contributed so much to our culture wouldn’t be abused at rodeos or sold to slaughter. That animals wouldn’t die for fashion taste or sport. I wish that every animal in the world would get warmth love and compassion. They really aren’t asking for much they just want to be treated nicely. I wish that every dog and cat would have a warm place to call home where they would get attention and affection their whole lives. I wish that the animals in the future will never experience cruelty only kindness. That none of them will ever experience pain or suffering. I wish that all of the abused animals in the world one day get justice. I wish that every single creature in the world would experience at least one moment of pure happiness and contentment in their lives.

My wish would be in a perfect world Man would not kill man. Man would not kill any other living being. Man would see me a Vegetarian as a normal brother or sister. Not the oppisite he has seen me. We would all look upon the eating of flesh for what it is. MURDER

  • Jennie says:

I wish that humans would realize what an animal’s life is really worth. Today I was driving with my sister to her apartment and as I got out of the car I saw a man start to hit his dog with his leash. I wanted to literally scream at him but he had run off with his other two dogs before I could say a word. I wish People had more sense in their actions especially to animals. I wish this really were a perfect world but unfortunetly it’s not.

  • Sam says:

I wish there was no factory farming. Ideally everyone in the world would go vegetarian but that’s an impossibility. But the very least society can do for the animals they devour is to give them happy lives and most importantly an amount of respect for every life taken and every one that will be. Respect is important we need laws acknowledging that humans aren’t the only beings that feel pain and deserve contentment and happiness. Because a world where there is no respect for the animals who through no choice of their own are the sustaining force in so many different ways is a sad sick place.

  • Heidi Hines says:

I wish I could at least play with the animals before they got killed.
