‘Win It’ Wednesday: PETA’s Plaid Pajama Bottoms

Written by PETA | December 30, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I’ve already accomplished my first goal of the new decade—to spice up my bedtime. I’ll admit it: Before I got myself a pair of PETA’s plaid pajama bottoms, I was just a gray-sweatpants kind of guy. I mean, don’t get me wrong—I love myself a good pair of sweatpants, but plaid is the Stella McCartney of nighttime couture.

PJ Pants

With 2010 just days away, I know we’ve all got the future on our mind, but all this talk about PJs gets me thinking back to the days when I was sporting onesies and sleeping with Piggy, my favorite stuffed animal. By the time I was 5, he had one-and-a-half ears and had turned from piglet pink to who-knows-what brown. To win a pair of our plaid pajama bottoms, tell us about the plush animal you used to (or for all you young-at-hearts, still) bring to bed with you. (Come on, we all had one!) We’ll give a pair to the three readers with the most original slumberland memories—make us laugh, cry, and wish we were 5 again!

Enter by posting your anecdote in the comments section. The contest ends on January 13, 2010, and we’ll pick the three winners on January 15, 2010. Best sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you’re agreeing to both by commenting. Good luck!

When I was little I loved the Ren and Stimpy show for Christmas I got dolls of Ren and Stimply and they were just as rude and crude as the show lol. When you pulled Ren’s belly button it would say some of his phrases and you would squeeze Stimpy it would fart! I loved them and took them with me everywhere and of course I would cuddle up to them everynight in bed.

  • Jackee says:

I sleep with my sweet kitty Dottie a rescue animal each night. I am sure she’d love her momma to wear these sweet pjs!

  • sarah williams says:

I got this perfect white bear with a red nose for Christmas when I was 2. His name was gumdrop but I couldn’t say gumdrop so his name became “Drupa.” Every night Drupa lay wedged between me and the outside edge of the bed to keep away the boogie monster. Drupa was the object of so much comfort for me until I was a young adult. Drupa now has a permanent home with my other loved animals in my antique hopechest. I still pull him out from time to time to hug him and tell him I love him. And although time has turned his fur yellow and his once red nose brown I will always love him!

  • Connie says:

When I was growing up each holiday my father would give me a stuffed toy. Each one was special because it was one that he has spent time picking out for me. My bed looked like the closet from ET. When I was all grown up and had I first child I picked put the most special of these very loved friends and they found a new place to live in a young child’s crib. The love continues to live on

I was not a girly girl. I collected spiders in glass jars and went frog hunting in the canyon behind my house. For Christmas one year Santa bought me a frog printed comforter and a 5 foot long stuffed frog I named Robert. I slept with Robert till I graduated from College. I couldn’t fall asleep without Robert tucked in the crook of my arm. When I finally gave Robert up he was threadbare and falling apart. I have a confession… Robert is still living in a box in my garage.

  • jennifer h says:

I had a stuffed brontosaurus that was yellow with bright orange hair that I took everywhere with me. One day I accidentally left her at the airport and didn’t realize it until we were on the plane. Of course my parents were unable to get her back so they went from store to store to try and find another one. They finally found an exact match but with one slight problem she was a “baby” version so quite a bit smaller. My dad gave her to me and told me that the airport washed her for me and she “shrunk” in the dryer. LOL

  • Elizabeth says:

I had a Valentine’s Day dog my mom got for me that I used to sleep with every night.

  • sheila christensen says:

I just knew that a giant spider larger than the tarantula I saw on TV lived under my bed. I don’t know how many times I woke up screaming and my dad always came and assured me there was no giant spider living under my bed. I was 5 at the time and by the time I was 6 I was quite grown up and brave.

  • Liz says:

I have a pinkmore of a greyish pink now stuffed bear named Pinkie who I have had since I was about 5 im now 25. I loved Pinkie so much and once while being babysat our family dog got ahold of Pinkie and ripped him open. I was so upset that Pinkie was hurt and his stuffing was coming out my babysitter put bandaids on the open “wounds” and when my parents came home my daddy gave him stitches to permanently close the wounds. He still has those stitches 20 years later. I’ve been through alot of moves in my 25 years and Pinkie has always been in my bedroom at every home. Now he is sitting happily on a shelf in my room with Kermit the Frog watching over me while I do my part to try and help real life animals that are hurt

  • Tatum V says:

I loved my Raggedy Ann and it went eveywhere with me..I still have it to this day in a box in my closet..I also had a silky which I put around her arm so iot would not get lost..I have my silky too..

  • Mary Ward says:

I had a stuffed deer that I named Ginger. She really was supposed to be something that you unzipped and kept your jammies in but I couldn’t bring myself to take out her stuffing so she stayed the way she was and slept with me every night for a few years.

  • Paula Harmon says:

I have a tiny teddy bear named Filmore. He is kind of delicate and old. My 4 yr. old recently pulled his arms and legs off! I have to get him fixed.

  • Deb K says:

When I was little I had a big ol’ stuffed dog that my sister had won for me at a fair. I slept with it every night but one night I came down with a bad fever. My stepmom was afraid that in my feverishnish is that a word? lol that I might somehow smother myself with the toy. So she took it away. The next morning I was all broken out with the chickenpox. She gave me the doggie back to make me feel better. I loved that stuffed dog I wish I still had it.

  • amy says:

I had a bunny. I had loved off his nose and mouth. When I was about thirteen or fourteen and had my appendix out I had him at the hospital with me.

  • Mimi says:

When I was about five I begged and begged my Dad for a paleorange stuffed brontosaurus more precisely a “Snorasaurus” who “snored” when shaken. I made my plea especially earnest by promising that if given said Snorasaurus I would sleep with “Snory” every single night. Well my Dad couldn’t resist and I was a woman of my word. Snory was my snuggle buddy for the next 10+ years and accompanied me to college grad school and now to my first apartment where he is now enthroned on a little chair in my living room. His plastic eyes have almost completely faded and that paleorange fur is paler than ever but Snory will always be a cherished testimony to my Dad’s love for me.
