Twelve-Year-Old Killer of Seven

Written by PETA | June 8, 2010

Given the escalating violence among young people, it’s impossible to understand how anyone can cheer for 12-year-old bullfighter Michel Lagravere, who boasts that he has stabbed seven bulls to death. It’s also disturbing that people continue to egg the young man on even after he was recently tossed around by a bull in a Mexican bullfight:

The misguided child walked away with only minor injuries, but that bull’s days are still numbered. Bulls don’t stand a chance in the arena—especially not when even a 12-year-old is permitted to torture them to death.

Did you know that bulls are physically harmed and provoked before they are let into the arena? They are beaten and sometimes have their horns shaved. Then, surrounded by the screaming crowd, the confused bulls will naturally fight for their lives as men on horses run them in circles and stab them with knives until the animals are dizzy and weakened from blood loss. Finally, the matador comes in for the killing stab when the exhausted bull is already near death.

Please contact Mexican Ambassador Arturo Sarukhán to politely voice your objection to bullfighting and to tell him that you won’t be vacationing in Mexico until bullfights are banned for good.

  • ocean17 says:

that is pure evil as are all bloodsports. let’s step outta’ the stone ages people. those poor animals don’t deserve this life of sadistic torture.

  • Sydney says:

I think the people who support and or participate in this should be tortured to death.

  • Caroline Jayda says:

That’s sick. I don’t know whether to blame him or not but I know that when I was 12 I had enough of a conscience to know that torturing animals is wrong. I wrote to them. I hope it helps…

  • James says:

Ignorance in the name of Tradition Culture.

  • Veronica says:

Oh please…culture is just a lame excuse for the torture murder of an innocent animal.

  • Lynelle LaFleur says:

It’s high time we enlighten Mexico and Portugal!! This is senseless cruel and terribly sad. I hate that so much animal cruelty exists. It only helps to make me feel better to know of others like those who posted on this blogothers members of such groups like Peta FACT WSPA Care2 etc. At least we are left with certainty that kindness love compassion DOES exist. I just wish it was universal the natural way of ALL. So sad thaqt children are being raised with no regard for the animal kingdom

  • Rex's Mom says:

I dont know if it was this kid or some other murderer but a parent wanted his son to kill as many bulls as possible to get into The Guiness Book of World Records for the most bulls killed by a child. Thankfully the writers of this great book said they never put these kind of records in their book. They don’t condone the killing of animals for publication in their book. Kudos to The Guiness Book of World Records! This whole bull fighting thing is outdated and barbaric not to mention cruel mean and very abusive. I ALWAYS root for the bull in bull fights!

  • Arambie says:

That twerp deserved it. Why do they do this to the bulls!? Idiot…

  • Jessica says:

I don’t care if he’s 12 at that age and even younger you should realise how sick and wrong that is. Humans think we’re so high and mighty i’m just waiting for an apocalypse to come and show us all how much of an insignificant speck we are in the world. If everyone could just learn to live in harmony with nature we’d all be much better off and things like this wouldn’t happen.

  • Candace says:

Bull fighting makes me cry for the poor bulls chosen for this “honor”…there is no honor in poking arrows into a bulls hide to make it angry and scared. Dispicable!!

  • Amelia says:

It says a lot about society everywhere when it becomes fun and games to watch children torture abuse and murder innocent creatures. What are this kid’s chances for growing up normal? What are the parents thinking encouraging this behavior? I work with severely behaviordisordered children in a residential treatment facility and we try to work this type of thing out of their lives so that maybe they acan grow up and be almost normal adults in this world. This is just bizarre and WRONG!!!

  • Shane says:

I think mexico has bigger problems on their hands than this.

  • Alayna says:

I think that people like that deserves every ounce of pain that the bull gives them. I can’t stand that. They call that a sport? Torturing animals? Wow.

  • jenny says:

Peta please go to Louisana and do something. They are lying about all the animal deaths. Get on b.p go protest get a protest going all over the us.Dont let them get away with this. Our indangered animals.

  • Yvette says:

I think this kid is too far gone in this bloody world of torture and death to ever really change. His parents must be making a fortune out of this.

  • Olivia says:

You can’t blame the kid he’s misguided blame the parents My parents were not vegetarianvegans but it was taught in my house no never ever EVER harm an animal its called morals and now im a vegan animal activist

  • Rayna says:

i think it stems down to tradition and culture upbringing and somehow the child was brought up to believe the things he believe in now. can you believe that they actually believe that it’s a befitting end for a bull since he fought fiercely for his life? and the people who walked away unharmed from the ring are considered “heroes”? change will only happened when these people are enlightened about how senseless and cruel this activity actually is. problem is people who torture animals normally do not realize that animals feel pain too. and somewhere along the long path of humankind people started to take pleasure in hurting or killing animals as if to prove supremacy in the animal kingdom. and so animals have since learned that if they see creatures on 2 legs those are dangerous… sad isn’t it?

  • jordan says:

    dis kid is beast.

  • Tira says:

This is sad and disgusting! I don’t understand how anyone can torture a living creature to death. Sick people!!

  • Holly says:

GRRR…. Why would anyone do that? It’s crazy! I am going into eight grade and I could NEVER bring myself to even hit the bull. That kid needs to go to juvie… GRRR.

  • leila5 says:

The child does this because it’s a part of his culture. Its because of their culture that the parents dont get arrested. Bull fighting is popular in Mexico and Portugal. I agree it is wrong what they do to the bulls useing them for cruel entertainment. However your asking a country to change their culture traditions and what they’ve been doing for hundreds of year. old habits die hard. Let me repeat myself I agree bull fighting is wrong and would love them to stop but that is a different country. a country that I doubt will change there ways.

  • Aneliese says:

Kid deserves to go to jail what a sicko and at such a young age! I’m seventeen and I couldn’t imagine doing this.

  • Bonnie says:

I don’t understand why they do this. What’s in it for them? Nothing. I guess they are just horrible people.

  • Melinda says:

This kid needs therapy to undo this damage. His parents need to be arrested and spend some quality time in jail for encouraging their young son to kill animals. Shame on them!

  • bmj says:

That is extremely cruel and dangerous for both the bulls and the kid. His parents are very irrisponsible.
