Stop the Presses: Research Shows That Stressed Females Overeat!

Written by PETA | May 27, 2008

From the category of “No Shit, Sherlock” experiments comes this gem from Yerkes National Primate Research Center. A posse of animal-experimenters, led by vivisector Mark Wilson, has concluded that female monkeys who experience psychological stress will eat excessive amounts of fatty foods.

Really? I wouldn’t have guessed that from the way I reach for chocolate peanut-butter brownies instead of broccoli salad when I’m stressed from a looming deadline or a crazy busy schedule. But unlike Yerkes’ Wilson, I don’t receive grants (read: taxpayer dollars) from the National Institutes of Health to come up with the groundbreaking conclusion that stressed females eat and that the foods we eat when stressed aren’t the best for us.

Wilson is right at home at Yerkes, where his coworkers also receive tax dollars up the yin-yang to imprison and abuse monkeys for equally revelatory results. Yerkes’ Maria Sanchez removes baby monkeys from their mothers and concludes that the babies become extremely depressed, Stuart Zola has shown that baby monkeys who are taken away from their mothers are more likely to become addicted to drugs, and Michael Davis has proved that motherless monkeys are more prone to feeling fear and anxiety. Your tax dollars hard at work.

Really well written thoughtful comment Alka. Agreed other posters.

Thank you Ana and Carla! Psyched to know we’re ready for a change! Anna congrats on not attending the dissection some schools have alternatives too bad your teacher does not but your action will make an impact!!

  • Annalena says:

I agree with you Maya. People tend to emerge from the woodwork when the issue hits home and a sense of national pride and “sportmanship”. I am always dumbfounded when people look the other way from these prevalent and grotesque practices. My class is supposed to be performing dissections on baby pigs as well as rats next week. I will not be there obviously. My teacher was completely unmoved by the information I provided him with about the dissection ndustry.

Maya makes a good pointwhere is everybody?? Inundating the NIH with letters against vivsection just might make a serious impact.

  • Pamela L. says:

In the future let them perform mindlessempty and cruel experiments only on each other!

  • Carla says:

    Right on Maya CVT!!

It’s a shame we didn’t get 500 comments on this forum as we did on the horseracing post! Don’t get me wrong I’m against horse racing. But if we could get even half that number to write to the NIH we could have an impact!! Just like our local governments the NIH has elected leaders and they can be ousted if enough people write in protest. Money talks bullshit walks. If we make it clear we will not support a government that tolerates this nonsense leaders will fall. That’s the only way. Otherwise we can kiss those baby primates goodbye unless we rise up and take action now.

I’m so grateful to PeTA for speaking for the thousands of helpless animals locked inside the bloodied walls of Yerkes at Emory University. Even though Yerkes and Emory receive millions of tax dollars each year for these useless and scientifically invalid experiments that help no one but the researchers themselves and even though those same researchers would swear on a stack of Bibles that the work they are doing has the potential to save humanity not that they have a shred of humanity within their sadistic souls Yerkes keeps their work hidden from the public. They know that if the public knew what they are doing and how the animals’suffering does nothing to advance human health they’d be shut down. Now that PETA has made this information available I’m going to go share it with others. Keep it coming PETA and let’s shut the bastards down!

Who cares??!! People get depressed stressed… they eat!! What the heck does this have to do with anything?!! I think it’s high time these vivisectors give it a rest and get a real job like one that makes you use your brain! It’s too bad they were spared one when they were born!! Free the monkeys!!

  • Annalena says:

This is so ridiculous it is almost self satirical. Who would have thought that pain hurts? This reminds me of some of the horrid experiments described in P.S Animal Liberation in the name of psychology and medicine. I think we could have all guessed what happens to baby primates who are torn from their mothers and given a pole in her place or that dogs become depressed and give up hope of escape when you erect a wall just barely high enough so they can not jump over when you burn their feet 900 times. These people make me sick. Nice use of time and innocent lives you “educated” pioneers of knowledge or rather sadism and torture methods!De Sade would simply adore you people. Oh what a wonder animals fear pain.. let us inflict some more!! Good grief. I am going to go vomit now.

People like Mark Wilson Maria Sanchez and the rest are whitecollar criminals. Wasting everyone’s time and money doing needless foolish things so they can MAKE MONEY themselves! Welfare cheats and insurance frauds get arrested. Mark Wilson and those like him should too.
