Stalking the Wild Tofu

Written by PETA | April 30, 2010
Tofu Hunter

It’s “tofu buck” and “seitan bird” season over at Adult Swim thanks to the new online game Tofu Hunter.

Thanks to the creative minds over at This Is Pop, who also created our Breasts Not Animal Tests game, now’s your chance to bag a nine-point block of tofu. Keep an eye out for the trophy buck (he’ll score you bonus points), and avoid hitting any does (unless you’re looking to end your game early).

As the name suggests, the game is a tongue-in-cheek takeoff on revolting hunting-simulator video games such as Deer Hunter, and it might not be for the faint of heart: Its disclaimer notes, “This game contains graphic depictions of violence against tofu.” But if the thought of blasting animated blocks of soy curd disturbs you, just remember: Tofu never screams.

I absolutely love this game and think it is fantastic. It is pretty close to hunting and a bit gorey but the creators have still done an exellent job! Thanks for all your hard work!

I tried the game and it was really close to hunting games that made me feel ill. That being said I didn’t find this game offensive. I am a vegan and I think chasing tofu around and shooting it is not something I will lose sleep over.

    Deer don’t scream either

I just went to check out the game and honestly it is so close to animal hunting in every way that I found myself sick to my stomach. I didn’t find it different than the deer hunting games at all except that the target was white and square. I posted it on Facebook before checking it out and then deleted my post once I experienced the game for 15 seconds. I think my vegan friends would be offended by it I was and I think my veggie and omnivore friends would also feel uncomfortable or be offended by my encouraging them to see it. Just a little feedback wish I could have praised it. Thanks for your hard work and all you do to protect nonhumans. I really appreciate it.

Well it’s certainly the best hunting game of the decade!
