Snowmen Storm Against Abominable Seal Slaughter

Written by PETA | January 21, 2010

Urban legend has it that Eskimos have 400 words for “snow,” but how many do they have for “snowman”?

Unlike real snowmen, these guys thrived in the Ottawa Sun. Passersby couldn’t stop looking and were delighted to get to know our blizzard buddies, who educated onlookers about the hundreds of thousands of baby seals who are shot or have their skulls crushed every year. With this year’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver approaching, help Canada clean up its reputation by urging officials to end the seal slaughter immediately.

Every time you asked me for help I feel like the best person on this planet and every time I can help I feel like one of those saved animals I feel gratitude and every time I can’t help I feel miserable. Thans PETA for make feel this way. Sandra Quarleri Argentinian49 years old.

Anybody who stands up to try and prevent pain and suffering of any living animal is a hero in Gods eyes.

  • Jessica says:

Man I was gonna go to that but I was forced to go to school! So lame!! END THE SEAL HUNT!

  • Michele says:

Did that reporter think he was being funny? There is nothing funny about the seal slaughter!

  • Marnie says:

I can not believe that there are still seal hunters “at work” not only footages also the public press showed so often how it looks to scalp these cute little animals. Fur was the day before yesterday who please didn’t get this thought till now? The Olympics are a good way to make everybody realize it again It has to stop! Go PETA snowmen let Canada debate on it’s reputation again.

  • Kris Shulfer says:

I love this!! everyone do your part and DO NOT BUY or WEAR FUR!!!!

  • LS says:

Many Canadians oppose this brutal slaughter of seals. We agree that it is disgusting and a blemish on our national identity. I agree with NT 100 too many politicians with actual power keep their mouths shut. This is 2010 no the 1600’s here. Sorry fisherman if your yields are low because of the seals but educate yourselves and get a job that doesn’t require this barbaric scenario. LS Ottawa

Justin Saddler needs to learn how to report a story and how to be funny. Good job guys!

  • Andrea says:

I am outraged every March when I think of those helpless precious baby seals beaten shot and even skinned alive. That is not even human. We all need to try much harder to make the Canadian government ban the seal hunt. There is so much senseless cruelty in this world and this is by far near the top.

The Olympics may be the best thing to happen to the baby seals!!! Perfect opportunity to educate TONS of people!!!

  • Sabrina says:

Okay this is just downright disturbing… For people to kill innocent seals for what cause? We have other things to eat we have other things to wear this is just for your own personal entertainment. I agree completely its just downright terrible!

  • Amber says:

    this just makes me happy

  • Jo B says:

What a great way to get the information out but I will agree with NT. I think that snowman had more intelligence and personality than the reporter.

  • NT says:

Canadians are so politically correct it makes me ashamed to be one. No one wants to step on anyone’s toes Atlantic provinces and the seal slaughter continues because people keep their mouths shut. Even that reporter was extremely proseal hunting. Idiot!

  • Shari says:

How cute is that! Snowmen to the rescue!
